Responsibilities

  • Promotes a strong safety culture and help provide oversight of safe work practices.

  • Sets a positive example for employees by actively participating in completion of daily work and promoting company policies, procedures and goals.

  • Proactively participates in a company "team" approach; and effectively communicates operational needs and priorities with internal team members.

  • Follows procedures and JSA's- performing duties such as; hand and machine packing, routine bottle inspection, insertion of corrugated material, stacking of boxes, labeling, erecting boxes, grinding plastic, load and unload bottles from conveyor and general production work.

  • Visually check quality of print against approved sample; (check if light or dark, check if off-center, check if faded or missing print, check molding parts for shorts, flash, strings, grease, etc.).

  • Performs some janitorial work, maintains a clean and orderly work area and follows GMP guidelines.

  • Required to assemble cartons, remove flash from bottles with firm hand movement, lift boxes weighing up to 35lbs, palletize boxes and/or place boxes/pallets, operate carton erector both manual and automatic.

  • Ability to maintain appropriate speed assigned each press.

Qualifications

  • Good manual dexterity.

  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment.

  • Manual/Automated packing experience preferred.

  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand directions/instructions

Summary The Production Helper is primarily responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment throughout the production plant areas at all times. This individual assists production operators with cleaning and preparing equipment to be repaired, and clearing stairs and walkways from debris. A successful incumbent will learn about plant activities and purposes in order to advance to an operator position. Key Responsibilities * Responsible for cleaning up any spilled product throughout the plant; uses a broom to sweep product from stairs, loading areas, and under plant equipment; moves large spills to designated bins or hoppers using front-end loader. * Clears debris from dryer feed chutes by lifting and using downward force on a metal rod or scraper as needed. Empties and cleans hoppers daily and as needed. * Responsible for assigned cleanup projects when equipment is down including, but not limited to scrubbers, sprayers, etc. Will assist other departments for clean-up projects as necessary. * Prepares equipment to be repaired by loosening dried product with a sledge hammer and cleaning area; advises operators on out of specification equipment found. * Assists operators with lock out/tag out procedures, makes list of all tools needed for maintenance jobs, and advises supervisors of any special procedures such as confined space entry necessary for repairs. * Performs preventative inspections of forklifts and front-end loaders to include, but not limited to visual checks, checking and adjusting fluid levels, and ensuring that all safety items (seat belt, horn, lights) are working properly; reports defects to Production Supervisor. * Responsible for miscellaneous assignments to include, but not limited to shoveling in assigned areas, patching minor holes in equipment, assisting with spotting and/or unloading railcars as needed. * Maintains a safe working environment by complying with all rules and regulations, and continuously practices safety while performing duties. * Wears the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) including, but not limited to steel-toed boots, safety glasses, hard hat, ear protection, and gloves at all times. Additional PPE including, but not limited to acid gloves, face shield, dust mask, acid suit, Tyvek suit, etc. is required based on specific job duties, chemicals, or equipment being used. Typical Education H.S. Diploma or GED Relevant Experience * Experience and/or training in a manufacturing or chemical plant a plus. * Basic reading, writing, and mathematical skills required. * Knowledge of the tools and operating equipment used in plant; mechanical aptitude; ability to use tools including, but not limited to jack hammer, various hand tools, shovel, sledge hammer, etc. * Ability to work independently or with minimal supervision; ability to understand verbal and written instructions. * Must be organized and able to manage multiple tasks and priorities. * Must be a team player; demonstrates a strong work ethic and punctuality. * Must have the ability to approach others in a tactful manner, and be accurate and thorough. * May be required to work overtime, 12-hour shifts, rotating weekends, holidays, and / or varying shifts. * Required to operate a front-end loader, fork-lift, and/or other motorized equipment; valid driver's license required. * Required to maintain reliable, regular attendance. Required Certifications Other Information Physical Requirments: This job requires the ability to work rotating shifts in excess of eight hours per day to include weekends and off-duty hours to reach operational goals and compliance requirements in a plant that operates 24 hours per day, seven days per week. This individual must have the ability to operate a forklift, front-end loader, and other motorized vehicles as needed. The Operator Trainee will climb stairs, climb ladders, bend, stoop, reach, lift, grip, push, pull, move and/or carry equipment that may be in excess of 50 pounds. This job requires the ability to sit for long periods of time while operating fork lifts, front-end loaders, etc; required to shovel, lift overhead materials in excess of 50 pounds and use repetitive motions frequently. In order to perform the duties of this job, the incumbent may be required to walk in excess of 500 yards to reach equipment/areas across the facility. Working in this plant operations environment requires the use of safety equipment to include, but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protectors, work boots, hard hat, face shields, respiratory protective equipment and uniforms. The incumbent may be subject to variations in noise levels and temperature changes due to weather conditions. While performing the duties of this job, this individual is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, toxic and/or caustic chemicals.
