FS includes eight departments that operate, maintain and support the University: Building Services Department, Campus Engineering & Operations, Emergency Management, Facilities Employee Services, Facilities Maintenance & Construction, Finance and Business Services, Integrated Operations & Engagement and Transportation Services. Our Building Services Department has an outstanding opportunity for a Weekend Custodian (Sat Sun, 5:00AM 1:30 PM).

Under general supervision, a Custodian will:

Clean and disinfect restrooms/shower rooms, fixtures & equipment, in assigned areas, in accordance with established procedures and standards; refill restroom dispensers;

Clean whiteboards, chalkboards and erasers; dust and wipe furniture; sweep, mop or vacuum floors; empty wastebaskets, trash, and recycle containers;

Set-up and take down equipment, such as chalkboards and easels, and furnishings, such as folding chairs and tables needed for meetings, classrooms, conferences, and events;

Strip, clean, buff and apply finish to floors; use high speed floor buffers/polishers; vacuum and clean carpets;

Use and maintain assigned power equipment and hand tools such as vacuum, broom, mop, squeegee for the cleaning and general maintenance of floors, walls, carpets, and furniture;

Lock and unlock buildings; secure building when facilities are not in use by checking for unlocked doors and windows; report unauthorized occupants;

Follow written and/or verbal instructions regarding the use of chemicals, supplies and equipment; comply with safety policies and procedures;

Report need for repair and/or maintenance;

May wash interior or easily accessible exterior windows;

May perform cleaning and related activities in areas within a reasonable distance from buildings using hand-operated tools or small power equipment to remove snow or debris, or sweeping sidewalks or stairs;

May move furniture, equipment, supplies and tools on an incidental basis;

May operate high-pressure washer;

Perform related duties as required.

The custodian must be physically able to perform all of the above duties.

REQUIREMENTS

Physical ability to do required work.

Must be able to follow written and/or verbal instructions and communicate in English regarding the use of chemicals, supplies, and equipment; comply with safety policies and procedures.

Regular and predictable attendance.

DESIRED

Basic Computer Skills

Possession of a valid Washington State Driver's License or a license recognized as valid by the State of Washington and two years driving experience.

This position will report to the property manager and will be responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of a large building including general repairs, cleaning and unit turns.<br />  <br /> <strong>Responsibilities:</strong><br />   <ul> <li style="padding: 0; margin: 0;" style="padding: 0; margin: 0;">Responsible for coordinating all maintenance work for the building <ul> <li style="padding: 0; margin: 0;" style="padding: 0; margin: 0;">Coordinate and maintain the preventive maintenance schedule.</li> <li style="padding: 0; margin: 0;" style="padding: 0; margin: 0;">Complete work orders for light repair work in common areas and unit interiors which could include light electrical work, light plumbing, painting and dry wall repair.</li> <li style="padding: 0; margin: 0;" style="padding: 0; margin: 0;">Coordinate with the maintenance department for heavier repairs.</li> <li style="padding: 0; margin: 0;" style="padding: 0; margin: 0;">Organize and store tools in designated areas.</li> </ul> </li> <li style="padding: 0; margin: 0;" style="padding: 0; margin: 0;">Responsible for cleaning and general upkeep of common areas and building exterior. <ul> <li style="padding: 0; margin: 0;" style="padding: 0; margin: 0;">Perform daily walk through to pick up trash, clean as needed and identify larger cleaning and maintenance issues.</li> <li style="padding: 0; margin: 0;" style="padding: 0; margin: 0;">Maintain garden areas.</li> <li style="padding: 0; margin: 0;" style="padding: 0; margin: 0;">Ensure all graffiti is reported and removed within 48 hours.</li> </ul> </li> <li style="padding: 0; margin: 0;" style="padding: 0; margin: 0;">Assist Property Manager with general management of the building <ul> <li style="padding: 0; margin: 0;" style="padding: 0; margin: 0;">Coordinate and perform necessary cleaning and maintenance for unit turns.</li> <li style="padding: 0; margin: 0;" style="padding: 0; margin: 0;">Assist with annual inspections of units and common areas.</li> <li style="padding: 0; margin: 0;" style="padding: 0; margin: 0;">Respond to after hours building emergencies.
