You'll handle ongoing maintenance, updates, and performance monitoring of our websites, collaborating with the Office of External Relations/Foundation to align web content with our branding and strategic marketing plans. Your expertise in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, web analytics, and SEO will drive organic traffic and enhance user experience. General Description:Under general supervision, perform ongoing maintenance and updates of District websites. Create and modify webpages and websites, train users on the content management system (CMS) and provide technical support for CMS users.

Maintain visually appealing websites that are simple to use, logical, comply with accessibility standards and are mobile friendly. Participate in the overall structure, functioning, security and performance of District websites. In collaboration with other members of the Office of External Relations / Foundation, ensures the content and messaging on the web aligns with the Districts branding guidelines and overall strategic marketing and communications plan.

Examples of Duties

Essential Functions:

  • Serves as the District's primary architect, planner and coordinator for web development and all matters concerning Internet technology and communication• Maintains and monitors the performance of websites and troubleshoots and resolves operational issues• Use knowledge of information architecture, search engine optimization, analytics and content management systems to recommend strategies that increase organic search engine traffic to District websites• Reviews and edits information to be posted to a website and ensures that posted information is visually consistent with District's branding guidelines• Update the content and layout of top-level web pages• Provide technical training and support to content owners on how to use the content management system (CMS) to maintain their sites. Teach content owners the importance of writing for the web, analytics and search engine optimization• Collaborate with content owners to develop short-term and long-term maintenance plans and how to evaluate their site strategies and goals• Develops training materials and documentation• Evaluates emerging technologies and trends, the effectiveness of web activities and recommends improvements• Other related duties as assigned

Knowledge of:• Web publishing standards including HTML, XML, JavaScript, and CSS• Current standards for accessibility (e.g. Section 508, W3C WAI, WCAG 2.0.)• Designing and developing in content management systems• Web analytics applications (e.g., Google Analytics) for interpreting usage, identifying needs and recommending strategies• Running usability tests• Conducting trainings and developing training materials

Ability to:• Interact effectively with all areas of the College• Develop the architecture and layout of complex web sites ensuring a balance of aesthetics and usability• Develop and update web page content• Assimilate and organize information in a logical, consistent manner• Communicate in a clear, concise manner to a variety of audiences• Recognize and use correct English grammar, spell and punctuate correctly, and write clear, grammatically correct documentation• Review and edit the proposed content of web pages• Effectively present information on the web so that it is easy to find and access• Coordinate the work of contributors, meet tight deadlines, and balance multiple projects and priorities with minimal supervision• Provide creative direction, analyze communications needs and give sound professional judgement on web design, branding and communications that support marketing priorities and activities• Promote and incorporate culturally affirming DEIA and anti-racist principles to nurture and create a respectful, inclusive, and equitable learning and work environment. In conducting their duties, staff members shall respect and acknowledge the diversity of students and colleagues.

Typical Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree AND two (2) years of applicable experienceOR• Associate's degree AND five (5) years of applicable experienceOR• The equivalent education and experience• Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students
