Required Qualifications

Experience:

  • 2-4 years hands-on web design and development experience with proven success in a variety of technical projects
  • 2-4 years experience working in a collaborative technical environment with users and web developers

Skills:

  • High proficiency in writing CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, and HTML/XML/XHTML code.

  • Proven ability to develop database-driven websites and web applications using PHP and SQL databases.

  • Experience developing websites with Content Management Systems such as Drupal and/or PHP frameworks such as Laravel.

  • High proficiency with web design tools such as Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.

  • Strong attention to detail, especially in regard to web development essentials such as usability, accessibility and security.

  • Strong understanding of web security threats and ability to write secure code to mitigate those threats.

  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills.

  • Ability to learn new technical, functional and business concepts relating to the applications supported by the development team without formal training.

  • Strong communication skills (written and oral) with the ability to work directly with developers, IT staff, content editors/providers, and end users.

  • Ability to receive general guidance on an objective and to achieve that objective with minimal managerial guidance.

  • Ability to analyze a business problem and evaluate the impact of potential solutions from both a business and technical perspective.

  • Ability to present technical concepts in an appropriate manner that can be understood by non-technical colleagues and end users.

  • Significant experience programming responsive, database-driven web-based applications that work equally well across all platforms, browsers, operating systems, and mobile devices.

  • Strong user interface design skills.

  • Ability to write well-documented and standards-compliant code.

Job Summary

This is a one-year position; renewal beyond one year will be dependent upon obtaining external funding.

Within the Center for Access Technology (CAT,) the Web Developer/Programmer builds and maintains new and existing websites, web-based applications for NTID Center on Access Technology products/projects, and other programs/purposes.
