Middle Seat is a digital consulting firm founded by former Bernie 2016 digital and organizing staff. We work with campaigns, nonprofits, advocacy organizations and causes on the front lines of racial justice, climate action, privacy and tech policy, immigrant rights, and economic justice. Were looking for someone who cant pass up a puzzle, is always learning something new, and loves bringing static mockups to life. Youll be on a supportive, tight-knit team doing work in tandem with organizers fighting for racial, environmental, economic and social justice.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and test static websites with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Build and test dynamic themes for content management systems primarily WordPress
  • Build and test dynamic templates for political CRMs like ActionKit, ActBlue, ActionNetwork, and NGP
  • Code email templates and ensure functionality across email clients/operating systems
  • Manage servers and databases
  • Assist team members in launching petition and donation pages alongside email campaigns
  • Work with clients to understand their web needs and develop sites to fulfill them
  • Provide occasional tech support for the team
  • Create, refine and organize media assets
  • Other responsibilities as requested

Requirements

  • Fluency in HTML, CSS and JavaScript
  • Experience with content management systems, especially WordPress
  • Understanding of best web and coding practices
  • Experience with PHP, Django, and Liquid
  • Familiarity with mockup tools such as Adobe Suite, Sketch, Figma, and Invision
  • Comfort with the command line and git
  • Top-notch organizational and task keeping skills
  • Full-time availability preferred, but not required
  • Demonstrated commitment to progressive politics
  • Knowledge of basic video editing and graphic design
  • Attention to detail: this job requires
