Robert Half Technology is looking for a full time Software User Experience Designer to design user experiences by optimizing usability and aesthetic designs for our software products. We are searching for an individual with expertise in user interface design, usability testing, graphic design, information design, and computer science with a focus on providing simple user-centered software. This individual will work closely with development and product teams, domain experts, technical leads, and management in both independent and team roles. Enthusiasm and the ability to work on a variety of projects are necessary.

Job Requirements

Key Responsibilities of the Job:

  • Work with product team members to define user needs, propose potential solutions, and create the information and visual designs to create the user experience

  • Obtain an in-depth working knowledge of our products and their targeted users

  • Create storyboards and prototypes to convey designs

  • Write design specifications (information flow, screen functionality and layout, etc.)

  • Create artwork necessary for implementation of designs

  • Work closely with engineers to ensure that designs are implemented correctly

  • Create, prepare, and conduct usability testing on designs

  • Help product teams evaluate product success, identify usability issues, and design usable solutions

  • Research and/or develop new solutions to design/usability challenges to solve complex and diverse problems

  • Develop and maintain UI specifications and guidelines

  • Communicate with development team to ensure that UI design is consistent and resolve any differences between design and implementation

Required Education/Training:

  • A bachelor's degree in UI Design, HCI, Human Factors Psychology, Computer Science, or a related field. We prefer candidates with formal training in information or interaction design, graphic design, HCI, human factors or related fields
Required Certifications/License/Special

Skills:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Demonstrated skill in designing, prototyping, evaluating, and documenting User Interfaces through a collaborative iterative process

  • Working knowledge of prototype tools such as Microsoft Front Page or Visio for prototype creation

  • Strong knowledge of graphic design tools such as Adobe Photoshop

  • Ability to work independently and research creative solutions

  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting abilities

Required Work Experience:

  • At least 4 years of industry experience

  • Experience performing usability testing

This role is responsible for the full web design lifecycle, from design and UX to building webpages in Drupal. As the Web Designer, you will be responsible for working with the Creative Studio Sr. Manager and key stakeholders to design, update and recommend best practices for SunPower.com. You will also interface regularly with our developers to provide requirements for new website features in support of those designs. To be successful, you must possess excellent relationship building skills to develop a solid partnership with the creative team, development team and SunPower marketers. You must also have a proven track record of staying cool under pressure, possess outstanding process skills, problem-solving skills, presentation skills, and have the ability to think strategically and creatively. The position is in SunPower's Content and Creative Team, and reports to the Director of Marketing, Creative Studio and Web Content. Responsibilities: Work with the Content Strategist on planned projects, and have the flexibility to quickly respond to any urgent requests. Track work daily through Pivotal Tracker. Provide design solutions that accomplish business objectives, provide an excellent user experience and address platform limitations. Design and build webpages in Drupal for sunpower.com, and update items across all global websites.
