We're looking for a highly-talented, experienced web designer to join our team. Someone who can see the big picture, who brings inspiration to their interface design and knows how to plan for a holistic user experience. Someone who knows the details of how to implement designs across platforms and reach a wide variety of audiences. Someone who enjoys a good creative challenge, non-stop variety, and can elevate the Marquette brand online every day.
Reporting to the Director of Digital Media, this position designs and develops web sites and content on marquette.edu. The web designer manages university level digital properties, providing ongoing ideas for content and design updates as well new interactives features attract new visitors and engage key audiences such as prospective students. The web designer will also synthesize user feedback and adapt new design features or content updates to improve the user experience.
Duties and Responsibilities
Design new digital interfaces for Marquette.edu informed by content strategies and creative briefs, manage existing sites and coordinate new technology ventures with other team members and departments.
Conceptualize and develop digital content features and web video, working in conjunction with other team members and departments within the university.
Organize information and content for the web in a way that is audience friendly and suitable for the web.
Lead the overall planning and scope of web design projects in close corporation with IT Services and university departments, managing these projects from inception through completion.
Meet and manage meetings with university departments to discuss web and interactive projects.
Work closely with IT Services, other Marketing and Communication team members (writers, project coordinators, designers and communication team members), university departments and external vendors to plan and manage Web design project completions.
Conduct ongoing usability and/or creative testing with target audiences.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as required, assigned, or requested.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
High School diploma.
4 years' experience with website design, development, interactive media production and content management.
This position requires the ability to manage several projects simultaneously.
Must possess excellent communication and organizational skills.
