Purpose of Position:

Support college communication and marketing work through website content management, performance, optimization, maintenance and analytics, and the management of the college's digital electronic reader board system. Contribute communication and messaging that strategically positions the college's brand, recruits new students and cultivates public awareness of CCC's mission, achievements and offerings.

Essential Job Functions:

Responsibilities

  • Website design and content management (50%)

  • Create and maintain the website's user interface and user experience, ensuring it is visually appealing, accessible and easy to navigate. Use web design principles and maintain consistent branding across the website using Sitefinity and template formatting.

  • Design, program, document, test, implement and maintain webpages using HTML, CSS and Javascript as needed per specifications, including mobile-responsive design.

  • Ensure page designs, images and documents are optimized for accessibility to at least WCAG 2.0 standards. This includes regular monitoring of the site for compliance and optimizing PDFs and other documents for accessibility. Ensure the website is representative of the diversity of the college and the community.

  • Work with the web team to develop and implement content strategies on the college's CMS (Sitefinity). Analyze website user data and feedback to identify areas for content improvements that meet the needs and goals of the college. Assist in establishing goals, summarizing results and deploying tracking solutions for digital communication strategies - spanning both short-term and long-term initiatives.

  • Work with college departments, administrators and personnel to fulfill content requests via the TeamDynamix ticketing system, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

  • Communicate and collaborate with departments across the college to ensure the website reflects current information and supports college initiatives and strategic priorities. Communicate quickly and effectively with end-users regarding request status and completion. Communicate complex concepts in a non-technical, understandable and transparent way that is appropriate to diverse audiences.

  • Continuously find better ways to improve and maintain the website's usability and design. Stay up-to-date with the CMS Sitefinity administrator certifications.

Website performance and optimization (25%)

  • Identify and implement relevant keywords for target audiences and optimize the content for those keywords. Improve title tags, meta descriptions, header tags, content and internal linking structure.

  • Optimize website speed to reduce loading times and ensure mobile optimization. Test the website across different browsers, operating systems, and devices to ensure it looks and works correctly for all users.

  • Use structured data markup to help search engines understand the landing pages and content.

  • Fix bugs and errors by identifying and fixing any problems with the website's functionality and escalate as needed.

Website analytics (15%)

  • Assist in tracking website traffic, user engagement, user journeys, calls-to-action, conversions and other key metrics, and identify areas for improvement.

  • Cultivate positive user experiences by analyzing current user engagement trends and staying up-to-date on the latest industry and web design best practices. Refine CCC's user flow strategies by assessing the effectiveness of designs, content and campaigns using tools such as Google Analytics and other data analysis tools.

Electronic reader boards (10%)

  • Manage the college's internal and external electronic reader boards across all three campuses.

  • Obtain, add and schedule the content assets for the presentations and players.

General Job Functions:

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, employees, other agencies and the general public.

  • Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the classification.

  • Participate in college committees when requested.

  • Maintain proficiency by attending training and meetings, reading materials and meeting with others in areas of responsibility, which may require travel.

  • Maintain work areas in a clean and orderly manner.

  • Maintain confidentiality, data integrity and comply with all related college, state and federal standards, including the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in web design, computer science or related field AND a minimum of 2 years of experience in associated fields. OR Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the duties as described.

  • Experience with HTML/CSS, JavaScript, and content management systems (e.g., Sitefinity, WordPress, Drupal) in an enterprise setting.

  • General understanding of SEO principles and best practices

  • Project coordination experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in web design, computer science or related field AND Minimum of 2 years of experience in associated fields.

  • Experience with Sitefinity and writing content for users and search engines.

  • Knowledge of and experience working with SEMrush and Google products such as Lighthouse, Tag Manager, Search Console, Analytics and Looker Studio.

  • Knowledge of optimizing images for ideal web traffic use performance.

  • Experience working in a higher education setting.

  • Working knowledge of public affairs and marketing content creation and strategy implementations.

  • Bilingual in Spanish or Slavic languages.

  • Organization skills using a ticketing system.

  • Ability to work independently and as a part of the team.

Other Job Elements

Work Location:

This position has an exception to work remotely up to two days a week. However, there will be instances when it is necessary to come onsite for work (with advance notice). Remote work must be performed within Oregon or Washington.

Working Conditions:

The position requires moderate (40-60%) physical effort such as lifting, carrying or movement, etc. Movements required to complete work require a high degree of speed, agility, hand-eye coordination and equipment operation.

The work environment is usually well-protected, with minimal hazards or obstacles (5-20%). There is little or minimal element of personal risk or hazard. Job conditions are usually comfortable, with minimal (5-20%) issues of confinement, temperature change, incidents of noise, or interactions of a disagreeable nature, inside/outside work, dirty conditions, exposure to contagious disease, etc. Position may have minimal responsibility for driving.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position is not responsible for the direct supervision of employees.

Supervision Received:

Works under the general direction of the Executive Director, College Relations and Marketing.
