Department Summary

The Office of Marketing & Communications tells HSC's stories, using creative ways to engage internal audiences, prospective students and community members. We map out and implement strategic marketing and communication plans in collaboration with HSC departments and schools to showcase the university and its work in education, research and health care.

Position Overview

This is a specialized, professional position that manages the design, implementation, documentation, training and troubleshooting of HSC web platforms. The Web Content Manager will help communicate the university vision, relate critical information about programs, and facilitate internal and external communication for all departments. This position allows for hybrid work arrangement. The person in this position must exemplify the UNT System's values.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in web design, communications or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Minimum of three years of experience working in a communications, web design or marketing environment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Customer-service oriented, willing to build relationships with users across campus, track request/project progress, and follow up with customer;

  • Managing pages, posts, media, navigation and working with plugins in a WordPress multisite environment;

  • Basic understanding of WCAG 2.0 AA, HTML, CSS and responsive WordPress theme design;

  • Strong writing skills, including knowledge of Associated Press writing style and writing with brand consistency;

  • Copy development for SEO and ability to adapt writing style for changing SEO requirements and strategies;

  • Creating and optimizing images in different formats for publishing on the web;

  • Organizing an archive of owned photography for ease of management and retrieval;

  • Familiarity with image licensing and usage rights;

Content strategy:

  • Planning and advising for new website needs and organization;

  • On-page SEO keyword research, competitor analysis and web page optimizations, including WCAG 2.0 AA accessibility standards and metadata for page rank and domain authority;

  • Off-page SEO link building and social media publishing;

  • Publishing and optimizing videos on YouTube and embedding in web pages;

  • A variety of web form solutions and thoughtful creation of notification emails for users and other stakeholders;

  • On-page campaign conversion implementation and measurement using Google Tag Manager;

  • GA4 reporting;

  • Familiarity with conversion rate optimization strategies;

  • Will contribute to content production for automated email marketing;

Enterprise content management experience at an institution of higher education.

Job Duties:

  • Leads and contributes to web page production, marketing emails, search ads, organic and paid social media content, and other digital media.

  • Applies industry best practices regarding research of how different users navigate the website and provides recommendations to improve user flow when needed.

  • Builds relationships with users across campus.

  • Tracks request/project progress and follows up with customers.

  • Writes copy for SEO conforming to Associate Press writing style and HSC Brand Guidelines

  • Creates and edits images optimized for the web.

  • Maintains an online repository of department resources.

  • Designs, implements and manages a content management system with the goal of improving internal and external HSC communications.

  • Adheres to WCAG 2.0 AA standards for HSC web content and instructs department and division editors and administrators in those standards.

  • Remediates PDF accessibility issues.

  • Produces Google Analytics or Looker Studio reports related to web traffic
