Job Title: Web Content Administrator (REMOTE)
Job Summary
The Web Content Administrator is responsible for developing and providing content and design for the USF St. Petersburg web site.
This is a 20-hour per week position and will serve as a second level web content creator at the campus, reporting to the USF St. Petersburg webmaster. This position applies technical and professional communications skills to create content that will motivate users to access the site and use it as a source of information and access to tools.
Nature of Work
The Web Content Administrator requires the ability to write and edit copy, incorporate elements of graphic design and build appealing and useable applications. A key accountability of this position is to determine the communication requirements of the unit, and to work with the USF St. Petersburg webmaster to develop the overall web strategy to meet the unit's communication goals.
While the primary purpose of this position is development and presentation of communication content, this position requires a combination of technical knowledge and skill in written and graphic communication. The Web Content Administrator must be able to apply knowledge of web applications to create web pages that adhere to usability and accessibility best practices.
The Web Content Administrator will be familiar with and able to apply the functionality of web content management software. The Web Content Administrator will apply public relations and technical writing skills as required to meet the communication requirements for the unit, and may also be responsible for and/or participate in the development of print copy, visuals, or audio-visual content for general communication projects.
Duties:
Responsible for content and technical development, implementation and maintenance of sites, coordinating site links, and uploading material to servers.
Writes and edits information for web site.
Maintains and updates information regularly to ensure currency of information.
Applies consistent web standards and guidelines for style and content consistent with university computer use policies and relevant regulatory requirements.
Acts as Project Manager for website revisions and web communication initiatives for the unit.
Evaluates usability and utilization of web pages, implementing planned improvements based on user feedback.
Works with the USF St. Petersburg webmaster on technical issues and requirements.
Supports other print and media communication projects for the unit as required.
Minimum Qualification Requirements
This position requires a Bachelor's degree in communication, public relations, technical writing, digital media, information technology, or related field, with two years of experience in related positions; or a Master's degree in the fields listed above. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
Preferred
Previous experience with content management systems.
