About the Position:

The Web Applications Developer provides application programming, development, analytics, and consulting for the learning management system (LMS) and other supported LSS supported systems. The position also works with Enterprise Applications and other Banner support offices in order to ensure correct and timely flow of users and course registration between Banner and the LMS.

Responsibilities:

  • Data Integration and Analytics:

  • Oversees Banner-LMS data integrations. Works with Enterprise Applications and Registrar to develop workflows. Manages data analytics with Enterprise Data Integration Services and Reporting and IT Security;

  • Tool Integration:

  • Develops and administers APIs to integrate supported user tools with institutional systems; integrates LMS and external tools via LTI and other methods;

  • Application Support Functions:

  • Provides support to Learning Management System Administrators for the LMS and other supported applications. Provides technical expertise to Learning Support Services in application design and programming and maintains familiarity with hardware, software, applications, and tools that promote the efficiency and effectiveness of LSS and its customers;

  • Assessment Functions:

  • Writes queries and develops meaningful statistical reports to analyze tool usage and answer data requests; and

  • Interdepartmental Functions:

  • Consult with decision-makers, planning groups, support staff, and technical staff that are developing and implementing instructional strategies that relate to overall programs of instructional improvement. Assist in planning, development, and implementation of these initiatives as they relate to support provided by OLR. Serve on ITS committees and support other ITS initiatives and events as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in related field;

  • Experience writing in one or more currently used programming languages appropriate for Web application development and integration; writing IT programming specifications; performing systems design and analysis; writing program documentation in accordance with published standards;

  • Experience in implementing third party APIs and developing, testing, and deploying APIs;

  • Work experience in an appropriate field and position;

  • Demonstrated communication (written and verbal), analytical, and organization skills;

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of web scripting and software languages such as Java, JavaScript, CSS, PHP, APIs;

  • Working knowledge of relational databases such as Oracle, SQL Server;

  • Demonstrated ability to complete complex programming, design, and analysis assignments; and

  • Demonstrated ability to work with multiple platforms and complex conversion for new development projects requiring a high degree of technical expertise.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field;

  • Experience in, and knowledge of, writing APIs;

  • Demonstrated record of delivering quality customer service and working cooperatively and effectively with management, other team members, and clients including faculty, staff, and students;

  • Experience working directly with clients to develop or resolve system and application design needs and providing technical and organizational leadership to other project members;

  • Demonstrated record of communicating effectively both verbally and in writing, directly to clients and in a production team environment;

  • Experience with the Canvas Learning Management System; and

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of programming languages with REST APIs, automation scripts.
