Moog IDS in Orlando, FL is looking for a Weapon Systems Technician to support end-user training, US Government Customer Contract Support, Weapons Systems Training and Services, systems demonstrations, and Defense Industry trade show and exhibit support.

What you can expect day-to-day:

  • Integrating complex electrical, avionics, and weapon systems onto air, land and sea platforms.

  • Performing troubleshooting of Weapon Stores Management Systems and related wiring harnesses.

  • Assisting Systems and Software Engineers with systems integration and test efforts.

  • Serving as a subject matter expert (SME) during system demonstrations for potential customers, test events, and technical readiness reviews.

  • Establishing training and educational requirements for end users and technicians supporting the fielded platforms.

What you'll need to bring with you:

  • B.S. Degree in Engineering or in a Science and Technology field (US Military Trade School Diploma for Aircraft Avionics, Electrical, and Weapon Systems preferred).

  • Self-motivated and able to make logical decisions with minimal supervision.

  • Strong planning and organizing skills and refined interpretive, analytical, and diagnostic skills specific to systems involving electrical, mechanical, and computer interfaces.

  • Working knowledge and architecture familiarity with a wide variety of operating systems (DOS, Windows, PMAC) and programming languages (C++, PLC Ladder Logic). Proficiency with standard MS Office applications.

  • Previous hands-on/practical experience with Hellfire Missiles Systems preferred

The company's strategy is to focus on the deployment and support of highly secure commercial, medical and industrial control systems, global content distribution networks and natural user interface advancements.<br></p><p><br></p><p>PURPOSE OF POSITION: </p> <p>The role of the Audio / Video Technician is to set up, install, operate, test, and troubleshoot audio and video equipment. This is full time weekly Monday - Friday position. This positoin reuqires travel and potential weekend work. </p> <p><br></p><p>MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: </p> <p>Includes the following (other responsibilities may be assigned):</p> <ul> <li>Set up and install equipment such as:<br> <ul> <li>Microphones</li> <li>Sound speakers</li> <li>Amplifiers</li> <li>Electric &amp; non electric video projection screens</li> <li>Projectors</li> <li>Video monitors</li> <li>Recording equipment</li> <li>Running, terminating, testing &amp; connecting wires and cables</li> <li>Sound and mixing boards for events and functions such as concerts, sports events, meetings, conventions &amp; presentations</li> <li>Control Systems, i.e. Crestron </li> <li>Digital Signal Processing, i.e. Peavey Media Matrix, BSS Soundweb, Rane </li> <li>Video Distribution, i.e. HD over IP, AV over Cat5, HDBaseT<br> <br> </li> </ul> </li> <li>Set up and wire racks.<br> </li> <li>Set up and operate sound equipment.<br> </li> <li>Create and install custom lighting systems.<br> </li> <li>Monitor sound feeds to ensure quality.<br> </li> <li>Ensure equipment is installed according to designated layout, i.e. PDF and DWG plans &amp; callouts.<br> </li> <li>Test and resolve equipment issues.<br> </li> <li>Diagnose and correct media system problems.<br> </li> <li>Mix sound inputs and feeds.<br> </li> <li>Coordinate audio feeds with television images.<br> </li> <li>Send in equipment for repairs as needed.<br> </li> <li>Switch video input sources from one source to another.<br> </li> <li>Discuss assignments.<br> </li> <li>Clean audio and video equipment and store properly.<br> </li> <li>Ensure the safe transfer and shipment of equipment.<br> </li> <li>Ensure the safe storage and integrity of data.<br> </li> <li>Perform duties on location.<br> </li> <li>Work with computer-controlled lighting systems.<br> </li> <li>Duplicate audio and video data.<br> </li> <li>Turn ideas into outlines, storyboards, and images.<br> <br> </li> </ul><p><strong>Requirements</strong></p><p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <p><br></p><p>To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.</p> <p><br></p><p>EXPERIENCE:<br> <br> Experience in Audio Video hardware, software, network troubleshooting, basic to intermediate operating system functionality or equivalent training and/or education is necessary. Operating systems include: Windows, OS X, iOS &amp; Android. This position also requires basic to intermediate functionality or equivalent training and/or education in Control Systems and Digital Signal Processing including but not limited to: Crestron Control Systems, Peavey Media Matrix, BSS London &amp; Rane Digital Signal Processing. Certifications held in any of the aforementioned systems will be highly regarded. </p> <p><br></p><p>COMMUNICATION SKILLS:<br> <br> Customer interactions must be handled with diplomacy and tact. Individual must be able to gauge the customer's technical abilty and communicate with them in appropriate technical or non-technical language in a non-condescending manner. </p> <p><br></p><p>DECISION MAKING/JUDGEMENT:<br> <br> This position involves projects and/or assignments requiring considerable decision-making authority regarding procedures, plans, and schedules. Although there are sometimes problem-solving guidelines for particular problems, there may be no existing procedures or instructions for those problems. The technician may be on their own in solving problems and determining satisfactory solutions.
