The Private Banking Marketing Creative Services team provides in-house agency-style creative support for hundreds of projects and pieces each year. The department's mission is to produce distinctive work that visually and linguistically communicate J.P. Morgan Private Banking's broad range of products and services.

Role & Key Responsibilities

The Associate Creative Director must be a craft expert, know how to identify breakthrough creative work, and inspire it in others either by demonstrating, coaching or sourcing examples of it. They must demonstrate creative excellence and have a track-record of building strong brands. Other responsibilities include overseeing and managing the creative department locally; evaluating, interviewing and onboarding new team members; monitoring staff and team creative output and helping to promote an environment conducive to enabling creative teams to work to the best of their ability. The Associate Creative Director is also responsible for equitably assigning projects to the teams that he or she oversees and working with operations team to ensure consistent creative quality.

Functional Responsibilities Include:

  • Owns and supervises individual creative projects.

  • Extends the brand purpose and assure adherence to brand guidelines through all business units and at all customer touch points.

  • Learns and becomes an expert about the strategy and market dynamics of the Lines of Business you work on.

  • Understands and can articulate Brand DNA basic tenets, including voice, as well as design guidelines.

  • Promotes, protects and encourages good UX/UI principles and has a responsive design mentality.

  • Work closely with ops and editorial to meet established SLAs and deadlines.

  • Advises client on all technical visual recommendations and copy issues as needed.

  • Participate and occasionally lead brainstorming, strategy input and creative meetings.

  • Provide detailed direction to junior creative team members and assist in the development and advancement of their skills, whether copywriting or art direction.

  • Effectively manage or execute multiple projects and remain flexible through multiple revisions and using negotiating skills to maintain the integrity of the idea.

  • Possess the patience and negotiating skills to manage challenging situations both internally and with the client.

  • Have the respect of junior personnel and the mentoring skills to effectively oversee their work and the willingness to take the initiative to do so.


  • Minimum of 8+ years relevant creative and project management experience

  • Financial services experience is a strong plus

  • Expertise in Creative Suite, digital and mobile functionality and software

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize, monitor, and manage workload

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to work independently to achieve goals established in a team environment

  • Ability to manage a large workload

  • Experience and Education Required

Works with senior management to provide highly complex financial and technical analysis of current and/or proposed product lines, pricing models and methodologies, business channels, business opportunities and/or internal measurements and methodologies. The role is primarily focused on RBWM unsecured lending products including credit cards, personal loans and unsecured lines of credit. Impact on the Business * Manage and develop planning, forecasting and ad hoc financial analysis, modeling and reporting to support RBWM unsecured lending business including results tracking, review and analysis. Conduct qualitative and quantitative analysis and prepare metrics for RBWM unsecured lending to include new product analyses, product pricing, channels, customers, new business opportunities, forecasts, incentives, budgets, external forces and trends and/or cost-benefit analysis. * Manage and prepare department objectives and goals. * Respond to requests and inquiries from senior management, business managers, product development and marketing to prepare analysis and metrics in support of unsecured lensing strategies, new products or product changes, pricing changes, new originations as well as measurement of the results of strategic and business actions. * May support the development and review of business unit business plan and presentations primarily in support of the unsecured lending team for RBWM. * Provide significant support to CCAR/DFAST/ PRA stress testing processes for all unsecured products Leadership & Teamwork * Manage staff including GFC resources by assigning and reviewing work to support business unit and department analysis and reporting needs. Prepare performance reviews, provide feedback, coaching and provide training, planning and career development, as appropriate. * Manage the creation and delivery of presentations of analysis, trends, metrics and results. Support presentations with supporting analysis, assumptions, calculations and conclusions. * Lead development for the automation and digitization of Finance processes and reports as it relates to unsecured lending products * Consult with executive management, corporate finance and other departments (i.e. Risk, Compliance, CVM, Marketing, Internal Audit, IMR, Central Finance, Central CCAR, etc.) to provide data and analysis. * Lead and develop an effective team through communication, performance management, development plans and reward/recognition practices. * Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the HSBC brand. Operational Effectiveness & Control * Assess the financial impact of analysis and make recommendations based on the results. Challenge business and stakeholders by providing insights based upon results and analysis to help guide decision making.
