Segment Risk is a group within National Business Risk that covers Wealth Management's specialized business units. In particular, Segment Risk is responsible for both supporting strategic risk initiatives and projects, as well as covering the day-to-day field risk issues for the following segments (among other segments):

  • Global Stock Plan Services/Corporate Executive Services/Executive Financial Services

  • Private Wealth Management (PWM)

  • International Wealth Management (IWM)

  • Institutional Wealth Services (IWS)

In addition to supporting these business segments, Segment Risk also supports the High Risk Client Committee (HRCC), the Client Development Group (CDG) and other initiatives where a review of client-related reputational and other risks are reviewed. It also helps with special projects for the broader WM Risk organization and is involved with certain targeted reviews of FAs and their business practices.

The position will report to the Head of Segment Risk and will support the above segments, the HRCC and CDG, and otherwise will assist in the special projects Segment Risk supports.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide day-to-day field risk coverage to Global Stock Plan Services/Corporate Executive Services/Executive Financial Services, as well as support to PWM, IWM and IWS as needed

  • Review and collaborate on the development and enhancement of policies, procedures and controls tailored to the segments' different and unique risk attributes

  • Handle and resolve segment-related escalations from field personnel and home office business personnel

  • Participate and/or lead regular and ongoing business calls with the different segments' home office business units as well as host field risk officer calls on segment-related issues

  • Work on special requests and other projects from the Head of WM Risk

  • Assist with Segment related remediations

  • Provide substantive and organizational support to the High Risk Client Committee

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum 5 years of industry experience, preferably in wealth management or private banking

  • Prior Experience working in a compliance, legal or risk management function

  • Risk Management Registration licenses required (e.g., Series 7, 63 (or 66)) securities licenses required or to be obtained after taking the role

  • Strong collaboration skills across both the corporate and field structures

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Strong Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word skills

  • Strong organizational and problem solving skills

While this position will work with the entire organization, it will have a primary focus on UHNW client segment and the FOR team which advises on a broad range of family wealth management (WM) issues, including strategic estate & financial planning, asset allocation, portfolio construction, philanthropy management, family governance, wealth education and lifestyle advisory. Position Summary The UHNW Business Analytics AVP will report directly into the Head of UHNW Strategy, with responsibility for (but not limited to) the following: * Maintaining the weekly and monthly data output of all UHNW engagement metrics, and liaising with the WM analytics team to maintain and build Tableau dashboards for management * Maintain and extend existing code projects in VBA and Python that are used for tracking engagement, automating workflow and reporting analytics * Build new and innovate dashboards for both senior management and FOR specialists that will: 1) lead to better FOR penetration of UHNW clients across the Firm, and 2) drive FOR business planning, initiatives, and client meetings * Liaise with FOR teams to maintain data integrity and ensure accuracy across various logging and CRM mechanisms * Partner with other departments at the firm to develop frameworks and tracking mechanisms with which to measure efficacy of various initiatives Qualifications & Skills Required * Bachelor's degree or equivalent education * 3 years of VBA or Python programming experience (experience with both a plus) * Basic proficiency with SQL and Tableau is preferred, along with willingness to learn more * Team-player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills * Self-starter with ability to hit the ground running and work independently with limited supervision * Detail-oriented, analytic individual with ability to multi-task and manage competing deadlines Morgan Stanley New York NY
