ABOUT THE ROLE

F&M is seeking an individual to join the Greater Capital Region Wealth Management team as a Wealth Advisor in preparation to transition to a niche service line. The successful candidate will embark on an "apprenticeship" style program to become a full-fledged fiduciary Wealth Advisor with deep expertise in Special Needs Trusts (SNT).

In partnership with the mentor, the individual will learn how to administer special needs trusts and guardianships and will be developed as a trustee, being responsible for investing funds, making disbursements, paying taxes, and maintaining detailed accounts. The Advisor will become an expert in understanding relevant government programs, including strict regulations concerning the use of SNT assets, since improper use of funds can disqualify the beneficiary for important means-tested public benefits. In addition to handling these technical requirements, the trustee will cultivate a profound appreciation for the beneficiary's needs and desires such that the trust will make the best possible contribution to the individual's quality of life.

The incumbent will also learn sales skills required to originate and maintain strategic referral sources, how to interact with clients to achieve the best outcome for their needs, and implement the best practices in the industry. Following this mentorship period, the individual will be responsible for meeting and exceeding sales goals.

COMPREHENSIVE BENEFITS INCLUDE

  • Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance

  • Pay-for-Performance (Bonus) Earning Potential

  • Paid Time Off and 11 Paid Bank Holidays

  • 401(k) with up to a 6% Match

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Empathy and authenticity.

  • Ability to present technical material effectively with clients and prospects.

  • Proficient with Excel and Word.

  • Ability to develop and execute a sales strategy to target prospects and build a network of key decision makers and centers of influence.
