Expected hours are 10:00 pm to 6:30 am, Sunday through Thursday (With every Friday and Saturday off)!

 *Qualifying candidates are those who are relocating their permanent residence from 200 miles or more away from the WDVA facility in which they will be employed. Candidates must be hired no later than September 1st, 2024 to receive the incentive and

 must be hired into full-time, permanent positions to be eligible.

Position(s) at this location will also receive 5% Premium Pay for facilities open twenty-four hours per day. Employees must physically work at the facility 3 days per workweek to qualify. The 5% Premium Pay is in effect until June 29th, 2025.

In addition, we provide critical community services through a variety of programs, and at our four State Veterans Homes located in Orting, Port Orchard, Spokane, and Walla Walla.  These locations provide Medicare and Medicaid nursing home care to Veterans, including, in some instances, their spouses, widows, or Gold Star Families.

This full-time RN 3 - Resident Care Manager (RCM) Night Shift Supervisor position, under the supervision of the Director of Nursing Services (DNS), provides professional nursing services, has oversight in the delivery of nursing and nursing related care to residents of the Home with direct supervision to frontline staff.

Some of what you will be doing:

  • Direct and supervise subordinate nursing personnel, serve as a role model of health care provision.

  • Works collaboratively with evening and day shift supervisors to ensure program consistency and adherence to policies, procedures and standards for areas of supervision.

  • Coordinate assignments of staff to residents, provide direction and information via accurate communication of current resident status and care needs to the staff.

  • Provides counseling and guidance, learning experiences, and job performance evaluations for the direct care staff on unit.

  • Maintain open communication in an ongoing manner.

  • Monitor subordinate staff's attendance, meet with them regularly to review and address concerns and report those concerns as appropriate to DNS.

  • Maintains standards and character within areas of supervision and ensures the physical integrity of the areas through timely maintenance requests and resident and staff education and monitoring.

  • Attends care conferences and provides input.

  • Uses nursing judgment and knowledge to present and evaluate options for meeting residents' needs.

  • Ensures clear, consistent documentation of resident care to meet facility standards, state and federal regulations.

  • Ensures adherence and application of agency and facility policy and procedure.

  • Oversees reporting of incidents, ensures prompt, thorough initial investigation of incidents in compliance with regulations.

  • Reviews and understands MDS reports.

  • Determines necessary follow up on areas of concerns through regular review of MDS acuity reports.

Required:

  • A valid Washington State license to practice as a registered, professional nurse.

AND

  • Two (2) years of professional nursing experience.

Preferred:

  • Supervisory experience

  • Bachelor's degree involving major study in nursing.

  • Three years of professional nursing experience preferably in Long Term Care.

Special Requirements:

  • Must be able to pass a DSHS BCCU Background Check prior to beginning services and every two (2) years in accordance with WDVA Policy 615.000 Background Checks. Information from the background check will not necessarily preclude employment but will be considered in determining the applicant's suitability and competence to perform in the position.

  • Must comply with annual Tuberculin Screening in accordance with DVA policy 670.000 Tuberculosis Testing.

  • Must have current, and maintain CPR.

  • Requires medical evaluation, fit testing, training, and use of respiratory protection as required by the Washington Industrial Safety and Act standards. Must be able to wear a respirator, medical gloves, gowns, eye protection, and other personal protection as required by a job or task.

  • Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs. and be capable of reaching a minimum of 36" using proper technique to stock shelves and access supplies. Employee must also be able to push or pull with sufficient strength and walk, sit, and bend in an unrestricted manner during the entire workday.

  • Must have the ability to speak, read, and write in the English language for medical charts and data entry.

  • Positions requiring travel must have a valid unrestricted driver's license and must be insured if driving a privately owned vehicle on state business.
