Are you a part-time night owl? This is the opportunity you have been looking for! We are excited to announce with have two (2) openings for a part-time, night shift Registered Nurse 2 at the Spokane Veterans Home!

Please Note: Expected work hours will be 10:00 pm to 6:30 am, with the following schedules available:

• Friday through Sunday

• Tuesday through Wednesday

• This position has been posted within the assigned pay range through Step T. Step U has not been published as this is considered the longevity step, in alignment with state HR compensation rules".

Position(s) at this location will also receive 5% Premium Pay for facilities open twenty-four hours per day. Employees must physically work at the facility 3 days per workweek to qualify. The 5% Premium Pay is in effect until June 29th, 2025.

• Preparing, carrying out, evaluating, and revising treatment plans for individual residents based on physician recommendations.

• Passing medications, administering, monitoring and recording treatments, and assessing resident condition, including skin assessment.

• Suctioning patients, administering oxygen, catheterization, irrigation, administering IV solutions, colostomy and trach care, and maintaining gastric feeding tubes and pumps.

• Supporting and recording physical and psychosocial changes. Recording actions and findings in medical records.

• Making nursing assessments of residents as necessitated by the condition of the resident, and on a quarterly basis for the completion of the minimum data set.

• Monitoring and keeping a safe environment, including preventive infection control.

Required:

• Current Washington State registered nurse license OR unencumbered registered nurse multistate license.

• Ability to:

• Follow accurate methods and practices of nursing and restorative care, personal hygiene and sanitation methods, record keeping, report preparation, infection control procedures and resident rights.

• Assess, evaluate and participate in the development of appropriate plans of care. Plan, implement and document appropriate discharge planning for residents when appropriate.

Preferred/Desired:

• Long-term care experience.

• One (1) year experience as a registered nurse.

Other Information:

• Must be able pass a DSHS BCCU Background Check prior to beginning services and every two (2) years in accordance with WDVA Policy 615.000 Background Checks. Information from the background check will not necessarily preclude employment but will be considered in determining the applicant's suitability and competence to perform in the position.

• Must comply with annual Tuberculin Screening in accordance with DVA policy 670.000 Tuberculosis Testing.

• Requires medical evaluation, fit testing, training, and use of respiratory protection as required by the Washington Industrial Safety and Act standards. Must be able to wear a respirator, medical gloves, gowns, eye protection, and other personal protection as required by a job or task.

• Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs. and be capable of reaching a minimum of 36" using proper technique to stock shelves and access supplies. Employee must also be able to push or pull with sufficient strength and walk, sit, and bend in an unrestricted manner during the entire workday.

• Must have the ability to speak, read, and write in the English language for medical charts and data entry.

• Positions requiring travel must have a valid unrestricted driver's license and must be insured if driving a privately owned vehicle on state business.

• Candidates who are offered a job with WDVA must possess work authorization which does not require sponsorship by the employer for a visa now or in the future.

• This position is represented by the Washington State Nurses Association.
