Please Note:  Scheduled shifts will be 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m on a rotating basis.

  • This position has been posted within the assigned pay range through Step L. Step M has not been published as this is considered the longevity step, in alignment with state HR compensation rules.

Position(s) at this location will also receive 5% Premium Pay for facilities open twenty four hours per day. Employees must physically work at the facility 3 days per workweek to qualify. The 5% Premium Pay is in effect until June 29th, 2025.

As the Custodian 1, you will perform a variety of custodial tasks and routine cleaning of our facility buildings. Your experience will be critical in enhancing the appearance of our facility, while providing comfort to our residents.   • Cleaning assigned areas, resident rooms, common areas, and office spaces.

  • Vacuuming and extracting carpets as needed.

  • Mopping, disinfecting and waxing floors; sweeping and mopping stairwells.

  • Emptying trash and performing a variety of housekeeping tasks.

  • Maintaining clean and sanitary restrooms; ensuring supplies are adequately stocked.

  • Cleaning and shampooing upholstered furniture.

  • Maintaining lobby area floors and carpets

  • Maintaining custodial carts, closets and equipment rooms; restocking with supplies and equipment.

  • Sanitizing table tops after each meal.

  • And much more!

Required:

  • Must be able to work around unpleasant odors, blood borne pathogens, body excrements, infections/contagious diseases while providing custodial services to elderly, vulnerable, and/or disabled residents.

  • Must have excellent listening skills and be able to work productively with staff and residents from diverse backgrounds.

  • Must be able to follow policies and procedures.

  • Must be able to read and understand written instructions, directions, and procedures.

  • Must be able to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.

  • Must have the physical ability to do required work.  As there is heavy lifting of up to 50 pounds, as well as regular stooping, kneeling, and bending.

  • Knowledge of the methods, materials and equipment used in cleaning and caring for floors, walls, fixtures, and furniture.

  • Must possess basic computer literacy skills in order to complete required trainings.

Preferred/Desired:

  • Two (2) years of full-time experience in large scale housekeeping, janitorial, building maintenance, or custodial work in a healthcare facility, hospital, or nursing home.

  • Knowledge of the methods, materials, and equipment used in cleaning and caring for floors, walls, fixtures, and furniture.

  • Safety practices and procedure for handling chemicals.

  • Knowledge of aseptic procedures and infection control, as related to custodial services.

  • Training can be provided to the selected candidate*

Ability to:

  • Adopt work procedure to meet changing needs

  • Inspect and evaluate custodial work for cleanliness, aseptic cleanliness, and neatness.

  • Interact effectively with others.

  • Follow safety policies, procedures, and practices.

  • Operate floor care machines.

  • Requires medical evaluation, fit testing, training and use of respiratory protection as required by the WA Industrial Safety & Act standards.
