Summary:

The Cheese Department HTST Operator role is trained to perform the mechanical functions and understand the required Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) for the milk and sweet cream HTST's. Our HTST operators are expected to develop an expert level knowledge of the functioning and troubleshooting of their machine and/or area.

Schedule:

  • Leprino Foods is a 24/7 operating facility; the employee must be willing and able to workdays or nights. The current vacancy is on night shift, from 6:00pm-6:30am. Our schedules run 12 hours on a 2-2-3 rotation that allows for every other weekend off.

  • After training is complete, new hires will be assigned a regular schedule on the next available shift.

Pay Rate:

  • $27.35 per hour

  • $1.00 per hour weekend differential for all hours worked between 12:01am Saturday morning through 11:59pm Sunday night

  • $0.75 shift differential for all evening hours worked between 3:01pm and 5:59 am any day of the week.

Responsibilities:

  • Operation of milk and sweet cream HTST's according to Standard Operating Procedures.

  • Monitoring product quality throughout the production process.

  • Maintain sanitary conditions on all equipment via CIP and manual cleaning

  • Performing all duties in a safe manner, complying with all applicable safety practices.

  • Communicate effectively with the Cheese Supervisor and other employees.

  • Maintaining complete and up-to-date production records as required.

  • Comply with all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's).

  • Helping teams manage samples, F/P accuracy, silo emptying and /or washing, etc.

  • Any additional duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Must be a minimum of 18 years old.

  • Ability to pass a physical abilities test to assess ability to bend, reach, lift, pull, and climb stairs/ladders as required for the position.

  • Able to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Action oriented and the capacity to drive for results.

  • Familiarity with SAP or other manufacturing software systems working with touch screens.

  • Ability to evaluate and identify mechanical conditions and adjust or corrective action, as necessary.

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

  • Ability to bend, squat, climb stairs, stand, and walk throughout the shift in both dry and wet production areas with loud noise and varying degrees of temperature.

  • Specific vision may be required for this position, including close vision, distance vision, color and depth perception, and the ability to read computer screens for extended time periods.

Preferred skills:

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred.

  • Background or aptitude towards maintenance or mechanical functions.

  • Proficient computer knowledge, including Microsoft Office products.

  • Familiarity or ability to learn SAP, or similar integrated manufacturing system.

  • Prior food industry experience.

Physical Demands & Environment:

  • This position will be exposed to working in a wet/slippery environment with loud noise in varying degrees of temperature. Must be able to withstand high heat and humidity. Handles hazardous chemicals

  • Specific vision may be required for this position, including close vision, distance vision, color and depth perception, and the ability to read computer screens for extended time periods.

  • Ability to pass a physical abilities test to assess ability to bend, reach, lift, pull, and climb stairs/ladders.

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs hourly, climb a ladder, and walk up/downstairs regularly.
