Description

JOB TITLE: WATER TREATMENT & SUSTAINABILITY TECHNICIAN

Job Summary: The Water Treatment & Sustainability Technician position is a skilled level, full-time, hourly position within the Terrapin Beer Company Maintenance & Water Treatment department. Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, this position is responsible for performing a variety of skilled work for the operation of the water treatment plant. Additionally, this position is tasked with helping the Company achieve the sustainability goals of the Companys Terraprint program and maintain compliance with environmental laws, regulations, policies and evolving best practices.

This position will work a dedicated day shift that may include weekends and holidays.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure Company compliance with Federal, State and local environmental laws, regulations, and site-specific permits as required.

  • Assist Company management with environmental training and records for regulatory compliance or as specific plans require.

  • Perform internal sustainability audits at all Company facilities and assist facilities with corrective actions.

  • Assist Company management in resolution of environmental issues and, if needed, response to environmental agencies.

  • Perform regularly scheduled maintenance, adjustment and repair to a variety of equipment, machinery and control systems in the water treatment plant.

  • Inspects mechanical components of water treatment facility including, but not limited to, pumps, screening and spent grain removal equipment, valves and pressure regulators.

  • Operate equipment to process spent grain and improve clarity water.

  • Check and maintain pumps, motors, filters, belts, compressors, piping and piping connections at water treatment plant.

  • Utilize testing equipment and instrumentation and record meter and gauge readings and operational data in appropriate logs.

  • Troubleshoot individual pieces of mechanical equipment, evaluate and diagnose system deterioration or failure.

  • Interpret performance data, evaluate testing data and performance and maintain performance data records & preventative maintenance schedules.

  • Assists in the checking and clearing of water treatment reclamation equipment and lines for obstructions.

  • Ability to safely operate various manufacturing equipment, follow specific directions, and perform duties as assigned.

  • Follow all company policies & procedures, reflect organizational core values and strive to maintain a clean and safe working environment at all times.

  • Work overtime as needed which may require extended shifts, weekends, and holidays.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge & Skills Requirements:

The ideal candidate would have 2-3 years experience in a Water Treatment processing or similar job role. Secondary education via a technical college in the fields of Industrial Systems, Water Treatment Processing, Engineering or similar degree programs is preferred. (Or) similar work experience and educational attainment.

Additional qualifications would include either educational attainment towards Sustainability certification, or similar fields, (or) direct work experience either performing Company sustainability tasks or assisting with Company sustainability initiatives.

Applicants must possess basic mechanical abilities with problem solving/troubleshooting skills along with considerable knowledge of principals of the operation of pumps, motors and related plant equipment.

As a condition of employment, employees in this role must either possess, or obtain during their Introductory Period of Employment with Terrapin Beer Company, Industrial Operator Certification as obtained through the Georgia Environmental Compliance Assistance Program.

Applicants, without an accommodation, must have the ability to frequently reach, twist, stoop, bend, crouch, stand and walk for 8-12 hour shifts and must be able to lift 50 lbs. repeatedly.

Applicants must be able to wear personal protective equipment and work in varying weather conditions that includes humidity and seasonal temperature changes.

Applicants must be 21 years of age or older and able to pass a comprehensive background check in line with Company policy.
