Our 40 person team has been servicing the Richmond Metro Area for over 80 years. We are a close-knit group that works together to provide the best service to both new and existing customers.

Outside Salespeople strive to develop lasting, ethical customer relationships to maximize our share of the customer's potential and meet or exceed sales and gross profit goals. Outside Salespeople become an integral part of each assigned account, understanding the customers' business and needs, ensuring our role as their primary supplier. As an Outside Salesperson with Hajoca your specific duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Visit customer offices and job sites to assess customer needs and potential, to develop and maintain strong relationships, and to generate and close sales.

  • Process Sales Orders, Bids, Job Information packages.

  • Prospect new customers and alert the Profit Center Manager and Credit Manager of viable prospects for screening.

  • Work with the customer, Profit Center Manager, and Credit Manager to facilitate the payment of all accounts receivable. Communicate to the Profit Center Manager and Credit Manager any changes in a customer's business that might cause a credit risk.

  • Attend local and state meetings or conventions to learn about new products, market conditions, and to build vendor relationships.

  • Meet or exceed monthly sales targets set forth by the Profit Center Manager.

As a Water Treatment Plant Outside Salesperson, you must be friendly, service-oriented, and driven to continually identify and pursue new customers to increase market share. Excellent verbal communication is essential and all salespeople must approach all customer interactions in an honest and ethical fashion.

All interested applicants must possess:

  • High school degree or equivalent

  • 2 years Water Treatment Plant / Waterworks experience

  • Outstanding customer service, communication, and persuasion skills

  • Comprehensive knowledge of products and value-added services offered

  • A proper and valid driver's license

  • The ability to maintain positive relationships with team members, vendors, and customers

Our ideal candidate will also possess:

  • Water Treatment Plant Contractor sales experience

  • Waterworks Wholesale distribution experience

  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook)

  • Possess the drive to assist team members with other tasks as required

Work may include: inspecting industrial facilities for compliance with City's Pre-Treatment program; evaluating the effectiveness of wastewater treatment systems; responding to spills of the City's sewer system; operating the City's septic receiving station; and obtaining environmental information and data from monitored landfills for repair or change assessment. The class works within a general outline of work to be performed and develops work methods and sequences under general supervision. Supervision Exercised/Received: * Exercised: This classification typically do not supervise other employees; * Received: This classification typically reports to a supervisor; * Note: Other reporting relationships may apply. Example of Duties The Department of Public Utilities – Water Quality Services Division is seeking an individual for the Broad Banded position of Environmental Technician, in the Pretreatment Unit. Candidate will be responsible for supporting the industrial source control program (pretreatment program), the strong waste surcharge program and the MS4 Stormwater Program. Duties include, but are not limited to: * Performing technical inspections of industrial facilities under the City's Pretreatment and MS4 Program; * Preparing inspection reports; * Evaluating laboratory data on wastewater; * Performing field work by sampling and inspecting to ensure compliance; * Assisting in maintaining hauler and surcharge program; * Ensuring compliance of septage haulers, industries and commercial services with applicable City codes, State & Federal rules and regulations; * Assisting the Environmental Compliance officer with the issuance of permits; * Tracking notices of violations; * Reviewing analytical data and relating flow measurement and surcharge data to Customer Service Billing; * Investigating Spills and illegal activities; * Inspecting assigned permitted industries; * Identifying and evaluating new industries potentially subject to the City's Wastewater regulations; * Generating clear and concise reports on a regular and recurring basis and special reports as needed and possessing an advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office software and data entry skills; * Operating and maintaining data collection and sampling systems for City's sewer system; * Evaluating laboratory data on wastewater; * Responding to inquiries about City's Pre-Treatment Program; * Preparing inspection reports. Qualifications, Special Certifications and Licenses MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: * Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, business, liberal arts, or any related field; * Two (2) years of experience; * An equivalent combination of training and experience (as approved by the department) may be used to meet the minimum qualifications of the classification. PREFERRED TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: * At least six (6) months of sampling experience; * Experience in environmental sampling and/or environmental inspecting; * Microsoft Office Suite experience, especially Word and Excel. LICENSING, CERTIFICATIONS, and OTHER SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: * Some assignments may require a valid Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record and a valid Commonwealth of Virginia Driver's License within 30 days of hire. In terms of the physical strength to perform the essential duties, this classification is considered to be medium work, exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
