Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Geology or related field. Three years of environmental compliance experience to include hazardous and non-hazardous waste or asbestos management are required.
Must possess or obtain the Asbestos Contractor/Supervisor accreditation (TSCA Title II/AHERA and NESHAP) and Asbestos Management Planner accreditation during the probationary period. Must possess the 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification. Must possess a valid Driver's License.
Recruitment Notes
This is a professional position with the Department's Asbestos and Industrial Waste Compliance Unit and is responsible for assisting with tasks required to maintain environmental regulatory compliance. The job duties will be both technical and administrative in nature, both in the field and in the office.
Individuals with Asbestos Contractor/Supervisor and/or Asbestos Management Planner accreditation preferred. Knowledge of federal, state and local environmental regulations as related to the Department operations and area of responsibility. Ability to participate in guideline development and implementation; research, interpret and summarize findings, relevant laws and policies; maintain records; identify and assess existing and potential problems and identify possible causes and resolutions. Ability to work outside in all types of weather, perform heavy physical tasks (ie, moving drums, lifting pails, etc), multi-task between field work at various facilities and office work.
