STARTING PAY: $16.00 per hour
SUMMARY
Under general supervision of the Water Foreperson, this position maintains complete inventory records for water meters in the system. Responsible for meter cleaning, repair and testing in meter shop and field as well as maintaining accurate invoicing and shipping information. This position will be required to work shifts including evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime as necessary by the department, and during inclement weather. This position is considered weather essential personnel.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintains monthly and annual meter inventory.
Maintains a supply of new and repaired meters for field use.
Repairs and tests old and new meters for accuracy.
Requisitions and orders parts for meter repair and keep history of maintenance on all meters.
Supplies the Water Office with meter and manufacture numbers of new meter added and old meters deleted from inventory and returned to factory.
Checks and repairs large meters in field.
Assists field crews with orders as determined by the supervisor or the workload.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Requires a High School Diploma or its equivalent (GED). Valid Texas Class C Driver's License required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Ability to operate small office equipment, including copy machines or multi-line telephone systems.
Ability to operate computers for data entry and word processing.
Ability to operate and repair tools required for the job including but not limited to meter test benches, field test meters, air impact tools, grinder and buffing wheel, soldering gun, drills, and various other hand tools.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
