The Water Business Line of Arcadis is currently searching for an Entry-Level Water Engineer to join our world-class firm in Fair Lawn, NJ.

The ideal candidate is self-motivated, team-oriented and flexible, with the initiative and ability to take on new projects and other challenges regularly. The successful candidate will excel in a fast-paced environment and will demonstrate an eagerness to build and grow our practice. Experience with AutoCAD drafting software, Microsoft Project or Primavera scheduling software is preferred.

Responsibilities will include a combination of field and office related tasks and may include some travel. The primary focus of this Engineer will be planning, design and construction administration for many project opportunities including water, wastewater, and stormwater.

Position includes, but is not limited to:

  • Facilities planning, project design, permitting and construction administration activities as well as developing design reports and construction documents.

  • Projects can involve facilities planning and design for treatment plants, pumping systems, pipelines, and green infrastructure.

  • Working on water/ wastewater/stormwater treatment and conveyance including planning, process evaluations, detailed design, and construction administration.

  • Fieldwork to include, for example: conducting site visits, sampling, analyzing data for water quality, technology evaluations, and plant operations information, process troubleshooting, and optimization, as well as condition assessments and overall performance evaluations of water/wastewater/stormwater facilities.

  • Client facing tasks including preparing and conducting effective presentations, participation in client meetings and field interaction with clients, and subcontractors.

  • Work on multiple, unique assignments simultaneously with the initiative and ability to take on new projects and other challenges regularly.

  • Exercise judgment on details of work and in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.

  • Ensure project compliance with all Arcadis practices and quality and safety standards and facilitate coordination for timely completion and submission of projects on time and budget.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, Chemical Engineering or a related field of study.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior internship experience in Consulting Engineering firm or Municipal work environment.
  • EIT certification.

The Senior Engineer along with the support of a strong nationally recognized staff, will be able to lead a team to grow their expertise and technical knowledge of water and wastewater treatment design & construction engineering. The Senior Engineer would be a critical member of Water Division's staff and be expected to support the proven reputation of excellence in Client Management/Development along with executing projects and managing project pursuits within the municipal Water/Wastewater market of this region. The Senior Engineer will have the opportunity to manage design teams and serve numerous clients within this growing region. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: * Lead projects and clients in the planning, design and construction of Water/Wastewater treatment plants, storm water systems, distribution/collection systems, and pump/lift stations as well as creating construction documents, specifications and handling construction oversight/administration. * Manage a range of projects for various clients in the region. Responsibilities will include managing budgets and delivery schedules for each assignment, and leading project team to meet the project deliverables. * Work directly, when assigned, with clients to determine needs and provide solutions. * Coordinating multi-disciplined engineering teams. * As a seller/doer support the development of small to large design projects from inception to completion. * Cost estimate development. * Responsible for completing design tasks within budget and on schedule. * Lead preparation of detailed engineering calculations & analysis. * Supports the work of others and mentors junior level engineer & design/drafting technical staff. * Ensure project compliance with all Arcadis practices and quality and safety standards. * Perform other duties, as assigned. Required Qualifications * Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical Engineering or related field. * 15 years of experience in water / wastewater / stormwater studies, design, and/or construction administration / oversight projects as a Project Manager and/or Lead Design Engineer, on a variety projects, from small to larger in size. * Project experience including design and construction of water and wastewater treatment facilities; focused on expansion, rehabilitation. * Engineering skills in the water/wastewater practice area. * Experience in development of project drawings, specifications, schedules and cost estimates. * Experience with MS Office applications. * Current PE License in New Jersey and/or in other nearby states, with interest in obtaining New Jersey PE.
