Arcadis is seeking passionate Entry-Level Water Engineer, to join our world-class firm. This position will work within our National Intelligent Water Team in our Akron, OH Office and contribute to projects both locally and throughout the country.

The Engineer will utilize his/her technical knowledge of hydraulics and water distribution system master planning and modeling, combined with data analytics and intelligent water to develop innovative solutions throughout the national market. The ideal candidate will have

  • Exceptional Microsoft Office skills

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written--public speaking, ability to communicate effectively as part of a team and with clients and for the preparation/development of technical documents.

  • Familiarity with GIS software, and Hydraulic Modeling software, including the following software: InfoWater, WaterGEMS, EPANET.

  • Familiarity with predictive and prescriptive analytics (machine learning).

  • Experience with data processing and visualization software, including Tableau and PowerBI

  • Familiarity with hydraulic modeling & engineering experience for evaluations, investigations, planning, feasibility studies and modeling of water distribution systems.

Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform engineering activities for water distribution hydraulics, including pumping evaluations, flow test studies, water quality investigations, system planning, hydraulic and water quality model development, and feasibility studies.

  • Assist with intelligent water solutions development and implementation

  • Assist with water conveyance systems and asset management data analytics

  • Exercise independent judgment on details of work and in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.

  • Work on a variety of other water and wastewater infrastructure, including water and wastewater treatment and water/wastewater facilities evaluations, utilities assessments and design.

  • Develop and review technical reports for projects.

  • Assist others with defining the scope of work and objectives through research and fact-finding, combined with a strong understanding of business line and industry requirements.

  • Ensure project compliance with all Arcadis' practices and quality and safety standards.

  • Facilitate coordination for timely completion and submission of project deliverables.

  • Maintain and increase professional and technical knowledge by having regular participation with industry Association's attending workshops, making presentations and reviewing professional publications.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors' degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a related Engineering field of study

Preferred Qualifications

  • Engineer in Training Certification (EIT)

  • Previous internship experience

  • Familiarity with GIS, and EPANET water distribution modeling software

Job Description DLZ Corporation currently has an exciting Water Engineer opportunity in Cleveland, Akron or Columbus, Ohio. #LI-DM1 Duties & Responsibilities: * Perform storm, water and wastewater engineering, construction, and design assignments of a complex nature, requiring application of specialized technical expertise performed independent of other personnel; exercise professional judgment in autonomous decisions. * Periodically assigned a lead role in segments of water and wastewater design projects where engineering work is to be done; directing assigned personnel, meeting cost and time schedules and producing quality results are primary objectives. * Perform work with little guidance and operate in areas where precedents are not clearly established. * Perform and direct others in the design of water and wastewater structures, systems and equipment items requiring complicated design concepts and the solution of complex engineering problems. * Direct engineers and technical support staff in the preparation of plans and specifications for major and complex structures, systems and equipment. * Prepare reports and conduct studies of new engineering methods, codes, processes and materials. Conduct complex feasibility and operating studies and studies aimed at evaluating alternative systems, equipment, etc. * Prepare construction cost estimates. * Coordinate field activities and construction monitoring. * Perform construction phase activities including bid evaluations and review of Contractor's shop drawing submittal. * Prepare proposals; establish the scope of work, man-hour requirements and schedules. * Participate in technical development of personnel assigned to him/her. * Directing the planning and development of the project scope, procedure, budget and overall project scope. * Perform marketing and client development * Perform all work in a safe and responsible manner, in accordance with the Health and Safety Plan. * Perform other duties as assigned. JOB QUALIFICATIONS: * Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering * 4 or more years working with design of water and wastewater infrastructure projects. * Engineer-in-Training (EIT) registration required; Professional Engineer (PE) preferred. * Experience with water, wastewater, and water distribution and collection. * Hydrology and Hydraulic modeling skills a plus. * Skills with AutoDesk Civil 3D to design Public Works Projects, with the ability to instruct less experienced staff. * Ability to visit and safely traverse construction and project sites and complying with all applicable safety codes and requirements.
