Successful Cybersecurity Watch Officers will join our team to perform Computer Network Defense (CND) through 247365 monitoring and analysis of potential threat activity targeting United States Marine Corps (USMC) networks and systems.

Watch Officers will use demonstrated skills and training to perform security event monitoring, analysis and response activities in support of USMC objectives to monitor and defend network assets and data. The successful Watch Officer will use demonstrated knowledge of DoD CND to implement an effective defense strategy against network threats, attack vectors, and network vulnerability exploitation.

This position requires shift work. Successful candidates must have the ability to work rotating and/or flexible shifts to cover day, afternoon, and/or overnight hours as well as, potential weekends and/or holidays.

Minimal travel may be required.

Proven ability to perform the following:

  • Incident handling

  • Triage of events

  • Analyze and prioritize incoming information to determine appropriate COA

  • Brief senior level personnel on CND activities and status

  • Exhibit good judgement in time-critical situations

  • Network analysis and threat detection

  • Perform trend analysis

  • Collect, organize and report on system metrics

  • Experienced using SIEM Tools such as SolarWinds, Splunk, Wireshark, and others

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills


  • High School degree plus minimum two to five (2-5) hands on experience and training

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems or Information Technology or similar degree is preferred

  • Must be DoD 8570 IAT II compliant: Security+ and a relevant OS cert or training, or the ability to complete both within six (6) months of start

Qualifications Travel: * Anticipated travel is 10% or less of time. Candidate must have or be able to obtain a US Passport. Required Certifications: * Current security certification in one of the following: CCNA Security, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, SSCP, CASP+ CE, CISA, CISSP (or Associate), GCED, or GCIH. * Current OS certification in one of the following: Windows or Linux Variant, VMWare, MS SQL, Active Directory, HBSS, ACAS, CEH, Server+, or SPLUNK. Required Education and Experience: * Bachelors and 2 years or more experience or 6 years of related experience with a GED/HS degree * Active DoD Secret Clearance and have eligibility for a Top Secret Clearance. * 3 years of experience in Information Assurance and Cybersecurity. * Experience in patching Windows systems. * Strong documentation and concise communication skills * 3 years minimum IT experience to include three (3) of the following (6) areas: * *Software requirements * Operational requirements * Installation * Test and evaluation * Advanced system architecture * Training * Demonstrated experience in at least two (2) of the following areas: * *Ability to plan and organize work and interact with technical and non-technical personnel translating user requirements into responsive applications. * Demonstrated detailed knowledge of IA concepts and requirements. * Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of DOD military specifications and standards. * System design integration planning for multiple large-scale installations. * Hardware and software Evaluation. * Application and System Assessments, planning execution and management. * System requirements planning and oversight. * Technical development product milestone scheduling. * Installation and configuration of hardware and software capabilities.
