Job Description:

JOB SUMMARY

Plan and perform complex work involving the handling and shipping of hazardous and non-hazardous wastes generated from the facility. Typical tasks include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for managing and shipping wastes generated from the facility in compliance with Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) and Hazardous Materials Transportation regulations

  • Respond to work order requests to pick-up full waste containers from the manufacturing areas

  • Issue new containers for wastes that are compliant with DOT standards

  • Transport hazardous and non-hazardous wastes from the production floor to waste storage areas.

  • Manage inventory of hazardous waste containers and schedule shipments to off-site treatment and disposal facilities within the regulatory timeframe

  • Coordinate with waste vendors to establish waste profiles and prepare manifests for shipping

  • Utilize EHSDesk software to create new containers, track containers, set-up shipments, and track shipments

  • Performs weekly inspections of hazardous waste storage areas and daily inspections of the wastewater treatment plant

  • Ensure sufficient quantities of containers, pallets, labels, and other necessary materials are available on-site to avoid interruptions to manufacturing operations

  • Effectively communicate, verbally and in writing, with facilities maintenance personnel and waste vendors

  • Coordinates jobs with vendors, such as tank pump-outs, and provides support to contractors with regard to waste management

  • Must be capable of moving full containers of waste from points of generation to PIV

  • Must have or be able to immediately obtain an Industrial Vehicle license to perform related job duties

  • Manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously

  • Must be flexible around shifts for coverage and training, including overtime
