Wastewater Utility Worker I & II

Team Gilbert has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated professional to fill the position of Wastewater Utility Worker I & II.

The Wastewater Utility Worker I & II positions reports to the Wastewater Utility Supervisor. The primary function of these positions are to perform skilled and semi-skilled duties related to reclaimed, recharge or waste water collection. Follows preventative maintenance procedures and schedules on vehicles, equipment and hand tools. Inspects and monitors work-related conditions to determine compliance with prescribed operating and safety procedures in order to protect public and worker safety including the use of personal protective equipment. Must be able to work independently or within a team.

Additional essential duties depending on the area of assignment include but are not limited to:

• Maintains regular and reliable attendance

• Performs repairs and maintenance on wastewater systems and reclaimed water distribution systems

• Monitors water volumes that are delivered to basins and customer sites;

• Troubleshoots system problems and makes recommendations for corrective action;

• Fills percolation ponds according to predetermined schedules and revises schedule depending on system requirements;

• Operates, inspects, and maintains reclaimed water distribution infrastructure: logs daily records interpret readings from meters, gauges, charts, and instruments; and detects mechanical or process deficiency

• Performs maintenance, inspection, and repair of wastewater collection assets such as gravity mains, force mains, manholes, and lift stations safely and proficiently

• On-call as required

• Operate a variety of equipment, machinery, and tools that include a utility truck, heavy machinery such as a dump truck, tractors, skid loaders, backhoes, excavators, CCTV equipment, and combination sewer cleaners

• Insects and treatments to make recommendations on treating wastewater sites and other facilities for mosquitos and midge flies.

• Principles and practices of supervision.

• Available on a 24-hour basis for emergencies and after hour's callouts when Oncall or required

• Reads and interprets engineering plans, architectural plans, and blueprints;

• Assures compliance with all federal, state, county, and local regulations and laws;

• Other duties as assigned.

First review of applications will take place on applications received by 7AM on Thursday, February 15, 2024. Then every other Thursday through the posting close date of May 1, 2024.

CANDIDATES FOR A WASTEWATER WORKER I MUST POSSESS THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS:

• High School Diploma or GED

• Up to 1 year of specialized or technical training beyond high school in water, wastewater or related field (may include on-the-job training)

• Up to 1 year of experience, depending on area of assignment in water,reclaimed water, distribution system operation, including maintenance practices or working knowledge of wastewater collection systems, maintenance, operation and general construction.

• Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.

Licensing/Certification

• Class A Commercial Driver's License Permit (CDL) with Tanker Endorsement at the time of hire and obtain the Class A CDL License with Tanker Endorsement within 6 months of hire.

• Appropriate commercial driver's license must be maintained as a condition of employment in this job classification.

• ADEQ Grade I Wastewater Collections or Grade I Water Distribution Certification within 1 year of hire or promotion (The certification required will be dependent on the area of assignment).

• Appropriate certification must be maintained as a condition of employment in this job classification.

• Office of Pest Management Pesticide Applicator's License may be required within 1 year of hire.

• NASSCO Certification for pipe assessment and manhole assessment preferred

PAY RANGE FOR A WASTEWATER WORKER I IS: $19.85- $27.79.

CANDIDATES FOR A WASTEWATER WORKER II MUST POSSESS THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS:

• High School Diploma or GED

• 2 years of specialized or technical training beyond high school in water, wastewater or related field.

• 2 years of experience, depending on area of assignment in water or reclaimed water distribution system operation, including maintenance practices or working knowledge of wastewater collection systems, maintenance, operation and general construction.

• Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.

Licenses/Certifications

• Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Tanker Endorsement with no air brake restrictions upon hire or promotion.

• Appropriate commercial driver's license must be maintained as a condition of employment in this job classification.

• ADEQ Grade II Wastewater Collections or Grade II Water Distribution Certification upon hire or promotion (The certification required will be dependent on the area of assignment).

• Appropriate certification must be maintained as a condition of employment in this job classification.

• Office of Pest Management Pesticide Applicator's License may be required within 1 year of hire.

PAY RANGE FOR A WASTEWATER WORKER II IS: $23.20- $33.64.

This position is an At-Will position and is FLSA Non-Exempt - eligible for overtime compensation.
