Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator, General is responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of facilities that pertain to the distribution of water to systems, including water and wastewater treatment plans, water and wastewater pump stations, water storage facilities, wastewater lift stations and appurtenant water and wastewater distribution and collection components.
Notifies management of any issues and makes recommendations for improvement.
Makes process adjustments as necessary to maintain compliance with discharge quality parameters.
Provides mechanical maintenance and repair services as needed.
Assists with Field Service activities
Acts as an operator of treatment plants, treatment stations, and pumping facilities. Responsible for all related maintenance of the facilities, including, but not limited to pumps, chemical feeders, control valves, filters, recorders, electrical systems, and emergency equipment.
Collects distribution and wastewater collection samples and records data. Provides water quality analyses for wastewater facilities.
Prepares and submits regulatory reporting. Inspects watersheds for sources of contamination, makes recommendations for corrections, follows up on inspections, and collects source samples.
Operates and tests all emergency generators.
Occasional performs various other Field Service tasks within the region, including, but not limited to main and service repairs, system flushing, and CBYD location and mark-outs. Provides departmental administrative support.
Participates in on call schedule and is responsible for responding to emergencies as requested and required.
Performs other duties or special projects as required or as assigned.
High school diploma required
Driver's License required
Wastewater certification preferred
Proficiency with respirator preferred
