LOCATION: West Texas

CONTEXT: Our client, an Industrial water/wastewater treatment company, is seeking several Wastewater Treatment Operators to meet the demand of their growing US operations. This position operates and maintains water/wastewater treatment, processing, disposal and testing equipment in water/wastewater treatment facilities to purify water to meet permit and operational requirements.

The ideal candidate(s) will have experience with CLO2 DAF, dewatering boxes, belt press, filter presses, and centrifuge-decanter pumps. Housing and company vehicle may be provided. The schedule is 2 weeks on / 1 week off. Candidates do not need to be local but able to travel as needed. 100+ hours each week.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operate water/wastewater equipment to job specifications, monitor pressures, fluid levels, and temperatures and open/close valves providing a path for the water to flow.
  • Rig up / rig down of equipment.
  • Tend to automatic and semi-automatic machines and related equipment including pumps, engines, generators, valves, gates, mixers, conveyors, blowers, chemical feed and odor control and vacuum filters used to decontaminate wastewater by settling, aeration and sludge digestion.
  • Monitor control panels and adjust valves and gates manually or by remote control to regulate flow.
  • Monitor flow meters, gauges, flow ratios, pressures and related controls through instrument panels, computer terminals and programmable logic control units in assigned area.
  • Monitor and record operating conditions, observations and data in area shift log.
  • Ensure conformance to process specifications.
  • Diagnose basic operational problems and take corrective action per procedure. Verify and report suspected malfunctions and variances to supervisor.
  • Perform field tests (chemical and physical) in order to pace chemical dosages for process.
  • Sample wastewater and sludge according to schedule.
  • Prepare chemical solutions and service automatic samplers.
  • Monitor process chemical supplies and recommend reorder.
  • Perform lab tests applicable to permit testing and reporting per procedures.
  • Perform routine instrument calibration for portable meters including, but not limited to pH, percent oxygen and lower explosive limit.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience in water/wastewater treatment as an operator or technician
  • Experience with CLO2 or DAF is a must!
  • Able to travel for projects, work 12 hour days, and lift over 40 pounds.
  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
  • Must be comfortable working outdoors, in inclement weather and around heavy equipment
  • Ability to be flexible and shift priorities in a constantly changing, fast-paced work environment
