We are pleased to offer the opportunity to work as a Wastewater Facilities Operator with the DuPage County Department of Public Works.
This position is assigned to the IUOE Local 399 Bargaining Unit Position
Hiring Salary is based upon Wastewater Operator Certification level:
Class 4 Wastewater Operator Certification- $57,500
Class 3 Wastewater Operator Certification- $62,500
Class 2 Wastewater Operator Certification- $67,500
Class 1 Wastewater Operator Certification- $74,500

Ensures safe and efficient operation of plant equipment and machinery through proper operation, routine checks, and ongoing maintenance
Draws samples of water for laboratory tests and analyses
Notes changes in effluent and takes corrective action
Starts and stops filter machinery and pumps
Cleans filter machinery and removes sludge accumulations
Adds chemicals according to prescribed standards
Reads gauges and transmits data to superior
Performs routine chemical analyses of water
General plant upkeep such as painting and grass cutting
Requirements include the following experience or equivalent combination of training and experience:
Completion of a High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma equivalent,
Completion of one high school level course in chemistry
One year of experience in a water treatment plant, pumping station, or sewage treatment plant
A valid Illinois driver's license
An Illinois Class IV, or higher, Wastewater Operators Certificate
A post offer physical is required.
