Job Summary

This position is 40 hours per week.

This is general sewage collection system operation and maintenance work, and support work on sewer maintenance equipment.

TOTAL COMPENSATION:$57,614 - $80,244 annually.Total compensation is anestimatebased upon base compensation, median retirement fund contributions, and current employer-paid health and related benefit contribution rates (including medical, dental, life insurance, long term disability, and leave). The actual total will vary depending upon each employee's enrollment choices.

Examples of Duties

(The duties listed are representative only; position assignments may vary. Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:)

Performs hand ditching, pipe laying, patching, hole filling, leveling of surfaces, manhole repair, and equipment repair.

Assists the Wastewater Collection System Specialist 3 on television inspection of sewer lines.

Assists the Wastewater Collection System Specialist 3 with sewer system operations and maintenance tasks not requiring a high degree of trade skills; assists with set-up and operation of equipment, parts, and accessories.

Assists the Wastewater Collection System Specialist 3 on the jet rod vacuum truck cleaning sewer lines, wetwells, and other wastewater facilities.

Operates autos and pickup trucks or other sewer maintenance equipment and specialized tools, as needed.

May operate loaders, backhoes, dump trucks, and equipment trailers.

Assists in placing and removing warning, traffic control, or other safety devices; acts as a traffic flagger.

Assists in cleaning and on maintenance of sewer collection system equipment, manholes, sewer lines, clarifiers, bar screens, wetwells, and other wastewater appurtenances.

Answers citizen complaints; makes repairs, and reports complaints and results to supervisors.

Assists in snow removal and maintenance of buildings and grounds.

Operates equipment and tools safely.

Responds to emergency situations on an on-call basis.

Employees may be assigned a combination of duties from jobs within this class or perform duties of similar responsibility and difficulty, not specifically mentioned herein, yet incidental to the complete work process.

Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Requirements

NOTE: Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of appointment.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma and/or a G.E.D. and a minimum of three (3) months of work experience which demonstrates an ability to perform outdoor physical labor.

LICENSE:

Possession of a valid driver's license.

  • methods, tools, equipment and materials used in sewer collection systems operation, maintenance and repair;
  • safety practices related to the operation of hand tools, power tools and equipment.

  • follow written or oral instructions in a responsible and efficient manner;
  • maintain effective working relationships with fellow workers and supervisors;
  • perform medium to heavy physical labor for extended periods of time;
  • learn the operation and maintenance procedures related to sewage collection systems;
  • operate tools and equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
