Waste Water Treatment Plant Operator

What you will do:
Operate TCCA's combined process and sanitary wastewater treatment plant according to standard operating procedures and in compliance with all applicable regulations. Conduct daily tests to monitor treatment process and operate the waste water treatment plant in the absence of WWTP Manager.
Here's a day in the life:
Perform daily laboratory bench tests to ensure proper operation of plant and conform to DEQ requirements.
Cleaning, grounds keeping, and janitorial duties around the wastewater plant.
Operate de-watering screw press units.
Maintains equipment and supply records as well as the standards log
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals and government regulations.
Establish and maintain effective relationships with employees, supervisors and the general public.
Utilize a computer with basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Act as a team player and be able to interact with staff at all levels of the company.
Work under pressure, meet deadlines, and be flexible in working on multiple projects simultaneously.
Demonstrate excellent time-management skills with the ability to work independently with little supervision.
Support maintenance technicians with plant maintenance in the total productive maintenance environment.
Take initiative to learn and advance in WWTP certification.
Skills you'll need:
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED required.
One year of education from an accredited college or technical school is preferred
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to communicate effectively and to establish and maintain effective relationships with employees, supervisors and members.
Must be computer literate with beginner knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Intermediate MS Office skills are preferred. Database experience is a plus.
Must be a team player and be able to interact with staff at all levels of the company.
Must be able to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and be flexible in working on multiple projects simultaneously.
Must be able to prioritize work. Excellent time-management skills with the ability to work independently with little supervision .
Licenses and Certification: WWTP Grade 1, 2, 3, or 4 certification or experience working in a dairy plant. Valid Driver's License with satisfactory driving record.
Pre-work physical exam is required.
Must be able to work a varied schedule including week days, weekends, and holidays.
Laboratory: Shared work stations including testing equipment and computer terminals. Lab environment is busy, and often hectic and well lighted. May include walking on uneven, slippery surfaces and encountering forklift traffic. Requires standing majority of shift, working with chemicals, walking on uneven, slippery surfaces, stooping, bending and crouching and climbing ladders. Duties may include repetitive motion of hands and lifting up to 55 pounds .
