Covington was chosen as the site of General Mills' seventh major cereal production facility because it lies in the heart of the rapidly expanding Southeast market. Located on 100 acres in Covington Industrial Park, the facility is constructed in a campus design that can accommodate future growth. The site consists of a 580,000-square foot production facility (Covington West), which produces cereal and snack products and a 200,000-square foot production facility (Covington East) which produces cereal, and a 22,000-square foot office area.

The Wastewater Technician will perform a variety of skilled and semi-skilled technical and maintenance work in the operation, maintenance and repair of the wastewater treatment facilities and systems.

  • Monitors the performance of all equipment that includes chemical delivery systems, gauges, valves, pumps, aeration equipment, drum screen, PLC trending of plant conditions, alarms, process control parameters for pH, DO, Percent Solids and other process controls for the biological system, calibrations of online and handheld meters, plant pump station and floats, basin screening equipment, aeration equipment, levels of basins, all process control equipment for filtering and dewatering sludge

  • Records statistical data concerning plant daily operations through an online reporting system

  • Maintains, cleans, operates, repairs and replaces equipment as necessary at the WWTP

  • Operates and maintains EQ system, MBR system, Dewatering system for sludge process control, Ultra Filtration systems, R0 system, Water distribution systems for the reuse water.

  • Assures that the plant operates and is maintained within the required KPI standards, written SOP's OPL's and adheres to the permitted numerical limits of the issued Wastewater Permit 004# and other permitted conditions

  • Maintains all logs for the WWTP, calibrations, flow, testing and chemical inventories.

  • Maximo work orders for the WWTP

  • Maintains drawings and schematics of electrical and other systems in the treatment plant

  • Monitors performance of the process and performs lab test and sampling for permitted Outfall

  • Coordinate repairs with 3rd party contractors as needed

  • Other duties as assigned to run the WWTP or Environmental duties assigned

This position is intended to work a 3/2/2 rotation from 6 am to 6 pm with some occasional off-shift and remote support.

Week 1:
3 days on shift, 2 days off shift and 2 days back on shift

Week 2:
3 days off shift, 2 days on shift, and 2 days back off shift

This cycle repeats every 2 weeks. This schedule ensures a consistent schedule with every other weekend off.

  • A State of Georgia Wastewater License is preferred

  • Must have the knowledge of biological systems, prior wastewater experience, wastewater equipment knowledge, troubleshooting, mechanical abilities

  • Experience with Waste Water lab testing

  • Proficiency in basic computer skills

  • Effective written and oral communication skills

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs with or without reasonable accommodation

  • Must be able to perform physical tasks for extended periods of time with or without reasonable accommodation including: standing, walking, climbing, bending, pushing, pulling and twisting over surfaces

  • Electrical and controls experience is preferred

RESPONSIBILITIES * Drive new initiatives and business changes across the site, utilizing VSU * Partner with Operational and Technical Team on develop and executing plans for critical projects. * Create a standard strategy process to integrate glidepaths, improvement plans, unit op capability reports, and capacity simulation work. * Prioritize, coordinate and align team on improvement recommendations including all activities that address all 4M's * Integrate all improvements into Platform Glidepaths. * Coach and develop the Driving SU process including improvement plans. * Lead prioritization meetings with Covington and corporate resources.
