Description

Job Summary: The Wastewater Plant Operator performs all tasks necessary for the safe, efficient, and economical operation of the wastewater treatment plant. and report any conditions that our recognized outside of ranges to supervision This position is responsible for assuring that the operation of the wastewater plant meets or exceeds all State and Federal rules and regulations.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Responsible for compliance and enforcement of all applicable safety, security, and environmental rules and regulations and company policies and procedures.

  • Oversee the commissioning and startup of new water and wastewater treatment facilities to ensure they meet design specifications and operational requirements.

  • Comply with all applicable Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) rules and regulations related to water treatment.

  • Collaborate with engineering and project management teams to troubleshoot technical issues and implement solutions promptly.

  • Monitor plant performance, SCADA, process equipment, chemical feed equipment, monitoring equipment, flows and tank levels.

  • Collects water samples at prescribed intervals from the water plant and distribution system performing the required chemical and bacteriological analysis to ensure water quality.

  • Maintain accurate records and reports (e.g. monthly reports of operations, chemical usage).

  • Calculate the rates at which chemicals are fed into the system, adjusting dosages as necessary to the correct levels.

  • Collects water samples at prescribed intervals from the water plant and distribution system performing the required chemical and bacteriological analysis to insure water quality.

  • Maintain accurate records and reports (e.g. monthly reports of operations, chemical usage).

  • Calculate the rates at which chemicals are fed in to the system, adjusting dosages as necessary to the correct levels.

  • Communicate effectively with other operators and supervisors using accurate and precise information related to chemical concentrations, measurements, pump operations, and tank levels.

  • Work overtime on short notice (e.g. emergency events or personnel absences)

  • Regular and reliable attendance

Qualifications

Education/Experience

  • High school diploma or GED Certificate. Proficient with general mathematics including the application and calculation of commonly recognized formulas required to maintain secondary biological WWTP efficiency.

  • Demonstrated basic understating of chemistry as applied to the operation of the WWTP (neutralization, carbon content of organic compounds, calculation of theoretical oxygen demand based on carbon content of certain compounds).

  • Certification as a Wastewater Operator Certification Class C or B is a plus

  • Experience operating and stabilizing Lamellas, DAFs, Ultrafiltration, Reverse Osmosis, Media filtration, Activated Sludge and chemical dosing.

  • Minimum of three years of experience in water and wastewater treatment operations, including hands-on experience with startup and commissioning of facilities.

  • Demonstrated ability to conduct commonly recognized wastewater testing

  • Demonstrated ability to conduct microscopic evaluation of microbial activity.

  • Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings and operational manuals.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex systems and optimize their performance.

  • Effective communication and training skills, capable of educating operators and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

  • Possession of a valid driver's license, as travel to various project sites is required.

  • Physical ability to navigate large treatment facilities, which may include maneuvering in confined spaces and handling or moving equipment.

  • Minimum 3 years related experience including experience in waste management, water permitting compliance, analytical data collection and interpretation, training on environmental topics, emergency response and incident reporting.

  • Pre-employment background check, and drug screening, is required.
