Nature and Scope

The primary function of the Waste Custodial supervisor is to oversee all aspects of custodial services, review staff cleaning responsibilities daily, within and outside of the building. The supervisor is responsible to oversee waste removal adhering to regulatory protocols.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Manage Environmental, Health and Safety processes:

  • Supervise, train, and evaluate custodial staff on all applicable ARI policies and procedures.

  • Ensure employees are up to date on required SOP training, review and evaluate time off requests and maintain attendance records as per company policy.

  • Coordinate and schedule assigned projects, perform general housekeeping tasks as required.

  • Maintain, order, and organize stock levels in department storage rooms and supply closets.

  • Maintain stock and supplies in breakrooms, restrooms, and locker rooms in all facilities.

  • Maintain custodial equipment and coordinate service of equipment as necessary.

  • Ensure all daily scheduled cleaning checklists are completed appropriately, throughout all buildings.

  • Maintain, and assure compliance to procedures for the management and handling of waste, adhering to cGMP, OSHA, EPA, and all company applicable local and state requirements.

  • Perform inspections of all waste storage areas and activities weekly, as required by RCRA.

  • Properly maintain satellite accumulation areas, including movement of drum/containers from the SAA to appropriate central storage location.

  • Ensure proper labeling and inventory all hazardous, non-hazardous, and universal wastes.

  • Coordinate and scheduling waste pickups, drum deliveries, and other third-party waste management activities.

  • Drive continuous improvement in waste management performance and programs, including hazardous waste reduction initiatives.

  • Partner with areas of operations producing waste to ensure alignment of waste streams.

  • Partner with EHS and waste vendor to perform waste stream characterizations, designations, and creation of waste profiles.

  • Review material requests for waste disposal considerations.

  • Partner with Quality to process and document destruction of inventoried items using CofD process.

  • Coordinate miscellaneous outdoor cleaning tasks, such as grounds keeping and snow removal.

  • Support ARI safety culture by working safely in accordance with company policies and procedures, and by reinforcing a safe work environment.

  • Perform any other tasks/duties as assigned by management.

Education Requirements and Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

  • High school diploma or equivalent, required. Bachelor's Degree, preferred.

  • 5+ years of experience with 1 year of team lead or people management experience.

  • Minimum of 1-3 years' experience with hazardous waste management.

  • Must possess and maintain a valid NYS drivers' license and be able to operate vehicles safely.

  • Possess or obtain and maintain a 40-hour HAZWOPER qualification.

  • Must be familiar with DOT and RCRA requirements.

  • Powered Industrial Truck (forklift) experience preferred.

  • Ability to transport 55-gallon drums through the facility using appropriate equipment.

  • General computer capability, required.

  • Must be flexible to work on multiple shifts and holidays. This position is part of a multi-shift operation and may require assignment to a regular off shift and/or weekends schedule, with ability to work overtime.

  • Readily adapts to changing job duties.

  • Establishes culture that emphasizes collaboration and teamwork.

Physical Environment and Requirements

  • Physically able to wear cleanroom/protective gowning and equipment, including but not limited to gowning, goggles, face shields, respirators, and protective gloves. PPE and Respirators are essential for the health and safety of employees. Maintain clean shave as required.

  • Employee must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Expected Salary Range :

$76,000-$80,000
