Waste Container Maintenance Worker is a working level class which participates in the moving, cleaning, delivery, and repairing of solid waste containers, and may provide limited work direction to unskilled laborers. Incumbents operate hand and power tools and assist with reconditioning and minor maintenance of bins and containers.

One vacancy exists in the Solid Waste Management Division of the Department of Public Utilities. Immediate and future vacancies will be filled from this eligible list for a period of six (6) months from the date the eligible list is created, with the option of extending that period at the City's discretion. If the examination process is suspended for this recruitment, the eligible list may be limited to three (3) months.

Pay,Benefits, & Work Schedule

RETIREMENT: Fresno City Retirement System, one of the best funded public systems in the state.

The Requirements

Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications on or before the posted filing deadline in order to qualify for the examination.

Two (2) years of full-time, paid general labor experience using common hand and power tools.

Possession and continued maintenance of a valid Class C California Driver's License is required. Candidates considered for hire must provide proof of a valid driver's license and current copy of their driving record.

The selected eligible candidates certified will be required to successfully pass a Department interview and a Department of Justice fingerprint prior to employment with the City of Fresno.

Selection Process

The selection process may consist of the following:

Written Examination : 100%: A job-related written examination will be administered which may test a candidate's knowledge of proper use of hand tools common to manual labor, crew safety procedures and practices, ability to understand and follow oral written instructions and establish and maintain effective working relationship with those contacted in the performance of assigned duties.

The written examination has been tentatively scheduled for the week of: May 20, 2019.

Candidates must achieve a passing score on the Written Examination to qualify for placement on the eligible list.

Veteran Preference Regulations

Candidates applying for veteran's preference are required to submit a copy of their DD214 with their application during the specified filing period. Evidence must be presented to indicate that the candidate was discharged honorably from the military service.

Veterans, including City employees, must resubmit proof of honorable service for every examination for which veteran's preference credit is requested. Qualified veterans who pass the examination will have five (5) points added to their final score.

Gas Operations is responsible for all aspects of PG&E's gas distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, restoration and emergency response. Position Summary This is an IBEW Local 1245 represented classification, which has over 100 years of experience representing employees at PG&E and is subject to collective bargaining. We are looking for an energetic and career oriented individual to join our Energy Delivery, Gas Transmission & Distribution General Construction team. The Utility Worker position is an entry level position with advancement opportunities for motivated individuals who perform successfully. Work is predominantly outdoors and in all weather conditions. The position is a General Construction position and individuals must be able to travel and transfer to a new headquarters upon request at any time; throughout the entire PG&E service territory with no guarantees as to how long you will be away from home. The individual must be able to drive safely, work extended hours; travel 100% of the time, and wear company provided Personal Protective Equipment. This position may be in various locations throughout the PG&E service territory that may be in the Northern, Central Valley, or Southern region. This position is a DOT (Department of Transportation) covered classification and is subject to random drug and/or alcohol screening.
