PURPOSE OF JOB:
The Atlanta Police Department GCIC Warrant Unit's purpose is to perform a variety of administrative activities to support law enforcement personnel and the public ∙ It performs under general supervision with latitude for use of independent judgment within established guidelines and procedures ∙ Our primary objectives are to enter ∙ clear/cancel ∙ modify warrants, vehicles, articles, missing/unidentified persons on the Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC) system; receive ∙ process ∙ confirm ∙ maintain active warrants, vehicles, articles, missing/unidentified persons ∙ running criminal and drivers history via the Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) and GCIC database contained by the GCIC/National Crime Information Center (NCIC) guidelines; and performing clerical functions related to GCIC/Failure to Appear (FTA) warrants.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Works under direct supervision and follows standardized operating procedures and written instructions to accomplish assigned tasks.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Work Delegation:
Have the ability to train new hires on the day to day operations of the GCIC Unit
Have the ability to work every station in the GCIC Unit
Have the ability to make good sound decisions
Knowledge/Skills/Ability (KSAs):
Has thorough knowledge of The Atlanta Police Department's policies and procedures, City of Atlanta and State codes, ordinances, and laws. Has thorough knowledge of Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC) rules and regulations.
Has the ability to operate GCIC terminals to run criminal and driver's history records. Has the ability to read and interpret criminal and driver's history records. Has the ability to handle/maintain confidential information.
Has knowledge of warrant processing procedures. Has the ability to compile, organize, prepare and maintain an assortment of records and information in an effective manner and according to court operations and regulations.
Has knowledge of the terminology used within the court system.
Has the ability to communicate and maintain effective working relationships with law enforcement officers and the general public. Has the ability to operate a computer and use automated case management system for input, retrieval and tracking of data. Has the ability to be flexible with work schedules requiring shift work. Has the ability to work under stress related to duties that require constant attention to detail and tight deadlines.
