The Warehouse/Department Manager oversees inventory assets through the receipt, storage, and transfer of merchandise between our delivery carriers and three retail locations. Warehouse responsibilities include maintaining supplies, safety practices, equipment, fleet vehicles, and operating efficiencies. The manager will direct a small team's payroll and performance, liaise with purchasing and payable units, and assist in retail operations as needed.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma required.

  • Bachelor's degree preferred or combination of five (5) plus years of direct warehouse management and education.

  • Three (3) plus years of supervisor or relevant experience required.

  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and electronic communication skills along with proficiency in Microsoft 365 Suite (Excel).

  • NY State Class D Driver's License.

  • Forklift certification.

Job Specific Qualifications

  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and capacity to manage and prioritize multiple projects.

  • Collaborative leadership capable of guiding performance and growth of direct reports.

  • Familiarity with industry practices related to freight, delivery, fleet vehicle maintenance, inventory management, and warehouse safety.

Advance knowledge of NetSuite enterprise application and ability to learn new systems and software as required.

  • Ability to work in varying temperatures with frequent standing and walking throughout warehouse.

  • Routinely lift, bend, reach, carry, pull, and push items up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

Inventory Management:

  • Monitors inbound and outbound deliveries to ensure compliance with established Campus Store and University guidelines.

  • Utilizes features within NetSuite ERP application to organize storage and movement of merchandise across locations. Seeks and develops software improvements related to warehouse management.

  • Creates and manifests daily transfers to retail locations.

  • Prepares inventory with price tags, hangers, or security tags, expediting merchandising of transferred inventory on sales floors.

  • Provides input and recommendations to the Facilities and Security Manager to enhance operational efficiencies.

Collaboration:

  • Monitors and responds to inquiries in shared warehouse inbox.

  • Leads, plans, and facilitates regularly scheduled warehouse meetings.

  • Functions as weekend manager or floor supervisor for retail operations during periods of increased activity. Responsibilities include building and personnel security, cash handling, and operating a POS register.

  • Serves as project and location team lead for annual inventory count.

  • Completes stock level analysis with department managers for the provisioning of retail sales.

  • Collaborates with accounts payable team and shares relevant information in support of procure to pay pipeline.

  • Works with receiving team to regulate the volume of product delivered each day.

Order Processing:

  • Timely and accurately processes purchase orders for Campus Store departments.

  • Inputs variances, damages, and price changes on receiving records.

  • Picks and fulfills sales orders from warehouse inventory.

Staff Development:

  • Models the company strategy, as well as communicates core values, to create a sense of teamwork and membership among employees.

  • Approves weekly payroll.

  • Establishes and modifies daily work assignments for 2 direct reports.

  • Observes and evaluates employee's work performance, provides feedback and coaching as appropriate, including completion of annual performance review.

Service:

  • Supervises accurate and safe storage of merchandise, supplies, and equipment.

  • Maintain warehouse certifications including forklift training.

  • Orders supplies and manages warehouse budget with Facilities and Security Manager.

  • Ensures a safe environment by identifying and rectifying hazards, ensuring proper ergonomics, and maintaining equipment in proper working order.

  • Schedule maintenance for fleet vehicles and equipment.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in varying temperatures with frequent standing and walking throughout warehouse.

  • Routinely lift, bend, reach, carry, pull, and push items up to 50 pounds.
