ABOUT THE JOB
Hawkins, Inc. is looking for Warehouse Associate who will also serve as a backup Class A CDL Driver to join our Plant Operations Team in our Minneapolis, MN location. The hours for this position are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., however flexibility in hours including weekends and extended hours are required to ensure customer satisfaction.
Pick, pack, and ship orders of hazardous materials according to DOT requirements, including loading and unloading bulk and LTL quantities of material by rail and truck.
Perform tank transfers, bulk truck or railcar loading/unloading, container emptying and filling, sampling, pump drums, dump drums, 50-100 lb. super sacks, and make tank-to-tank transfers according to established procedures.
Test, repair, inspect and fill chemical packages for hazardous materials.
Participate in cycle counts, inventory discrepancies, and physical inventory counts.
Perform inspections and maintenance tasks as needed, and maintain plant and work areas to housekeeping standards.
Safely operate motorized equipment (e.g., forklifts, skid loader, company pickup, Trackmobile).
Perform all tasks according to SOPs while adhering to all safety, environmental and health regulations, and complete all mandatory training and participate as a member of the emergency response team (HAZWOPER 40 Hour certification).
Uphold Hawkins standard of excellence through a continuous commitment to maintain ISO-certified facilities and to provide quality products and services to internal and external customers.
Participate in the continuous improvement process to increase operational efficiency and effectiveness.
Accurately and completely fill out required paperwork in a timely manner.
CDL A with tanker and Hazmat endorsements.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to communicate effectively through verbal and written channels.
2 year technical degree preferred with computer training in logic control systems; a high school diploma and equivalent experience is the absolute minimum required.
Computer skills (MS Office) required, and MRP (JD Edwards) experience preferred.
Ability to operate an industrial fork truck required; previous experience preferred.
1-3 years of experience in a manufacturing/distribution environment required, previous experience handling chemicals is preferred.
Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds for 10-20 feet up to 10 times per day; ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds frequently.
Must be able to pull/push equipment and/or piping weighing up to 100 pounds into position for 1 -2 minutes up to 40 times a day.
Ability to sit, stand, and climb stairs for up to 12 hours per day.
Able to climb ladders and work at heights up to 50 feet, on occasion.
Ability to work in a warehouse facility where temperatures may range from 45 up to 105 degrees Fahrenheit; as well as work outside in all weather conditions; snow, rain, wind, and high humidity.
Able to perform manual dexterity tasks.
Occasional turning, twisting, stooping, bending, and reaching.
No exposed jewelry in body piercings when in a GMP production area.
Ability to wear a respirator for up to 4 hours a day. Please refer to SOP for facial hair guidelines.
Due to chemical safety concerns, the wearing of contact lenses is prohibited.
Able to work in a non-smoking, tobacco-free site.
