Position Title: Warehouse Worker

Job Status: Full Time

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Work Schedule: 1st Shift

Metals USA - Plates & Shapes, Inc. -- Gregor Technologies Division specializes in contract manufacturing for various commercial, defense and scientific OEMs.

Position Summary:

The Warehouse Worker under limited supervision performs an array of functions that may include receiving and processing incoming material, picking and filling orders from inventory and managing, organizing and retrieving inventory in the warehouse.

Essential Functions:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable Accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Receives, places/returns items into stock inventory locations.

  • Organizes and maintains materials by designated storage areas; adjusting storage according to production and shipping requirements.

  • Tags materials for proper identification.

  • Prepares finished goods to ensure that they are tagged and properly prepared for shipping.

  • Prepares shipping documents associated with each order including bill of lading and shipping labels.

  • Verifies that all shipments are accurate and not damaged prior to departure from the facility.

  • Operates forklift (5k or 10k) to load/unload trailers

  • Secures loaded material into truck.

  • Forwards shipping and receiving documentation in a neat and orderly manner.

  • Restocks material

  • Assures all machine operation centers are timely loaded with material for production.

  • Regular and predictable attendance is required to perform the duties of a warehouse worker.

  • Adheres to Reliance Steel and Aluminum's Code of Conduct as well as customer confidentiality requirements.

  • Complies with company and OSHA safety policies and safe work practices.

  • Performs other duties as related or assigned

Certifications/Licenses:

Valid OSHA Forklift Certification

Physical Demands:

Occupation requires physical activity more than 66% of the time (>5.5 hours per day)

  • Stand, walk, sit, handling/fingering, reach outward, reach above shoulder, climb, squat or kneel or bend

  • Lift, carry, push and/or pull 51 -- 100 lbs. with assistance

Other Physical Requirements:

Must wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE)

  • Steel-toed boots

  • Hard hats with chin strap; chin strap must be worn at all times while on elevated surfaces

  • Protective eyewear

  • Hand protection

  • Arm guards/sleeves

  • Hearing protection if required by the hearing conservation program

Work Environment:

May be exposed to some of the following working conditions.

  • Environmental temperature changes hot & cold

  • Working inside and outside of an industrial warehouse

  • Moderate to loud noise levels

  • Vibration

  • Oils, dust, fumes and metallic particles

  • Day and night shifts

  • High School Graduate or equivalent

  • Basic arithmetic skills to calculate and convert decimals and fractions

  • Basic reading and writing comprehension in English (to read instructions, tickets, safety and policies manuals)

  • Proficient measuring skills and the ability to read measuring tapes, micrometers and calipers

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time

  • Ability to read and interpret documents furnished

  • Experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment preferred

  • Experience working with Heavy Equipment preferred

  • Forklift experience required

  • Functional Computer Literacy to include Microsoft Products

  • Knowledge of creating FedEx and UPS shipping labels a plus

  • Detail Oriented with ability to inspect material for quality
