The incumbent in this position works as a warehousing lead and provides lead direction to a minimum of 3-5 employees, missionaries, or volunteers in a specific warehousing function such as receiving, shipping, international shipping, and so on. As a lead, the incumbent performs all the functions of a Warehouse Worker 2, in receiving, stores, and/or shipping functions. The incumbent takes the lead in interviewing applicants to fill vacancies, handles minor disciplinary problems, and assists in performance evaluations of employees.

Required:

  • High School diploma and at least 3 years previous warehousing, material handling, or related work experience.

  • Must be able to read and understand English.

  • Basic math skills, Intermediate computer skills with training in inventory control and/or shipping and receiving programs experience.

  • Experience in operating motorized material handling equipment.

  • Must be able to physically lift/move/push/pull items (up to 50 lbs. alone or occasionally lift up to 100 lbs. with 2 people), climb ladders, stairs, scaffolding, and ramps to store/retrieve items, and operate a pallet jack containing up to 2,500 lbs.

  • Thorough understanding of functional area of assignment and related systems.

  • Knowledge and adherence to safety practices.

Preferred:

  • Internal Church warehousing and/or leadership experience.

  • Some college education.

  • Specific work performed may vary considerably between the different departments for this position.

  • However, duties would be of similar complexity and difficulty to those in the following list:

  • 40-50% - Performs the assigned tasks of a Warehouse Worker, 2.

  • 35-40% - Supervises and coordinates the activities of other warehouse workers, warehouse worker trainees, and material handlers in the assigned area. Schedules employee work and ensures assigned functions are completed accurately and in a timely manner.

  • 10-15% - Trains employees in a safe operation of equipment as needed, trains employees in job-related policies and procedures, and conducts regular performance and goal-setting interviews
