Warehouse Team Lead - Chicago, IL

Opportunity

The purpose of the Air Warehouse Team Lead is to oversee the daily operations of the Gateway Warehouse with direct involvement in efficient and effective handling of all cargo moving through the ORD Gateway.

Located in Elk Grove Village, IL.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure all gateway activities are carried out in compliance with any company guidelines or governmental regulations regarding Maersk's status as a Container Freight Station (CFS) and Certified Cargo Screening Facility (CCSF)

• Retain all records regarding bonded (CFS) and screened (CCSF) cargo, including maintaining the CFS log

• Oversee safe operation of any equipment according to company policy and local regulations

• Manage warehouse staff with a focus on timely, efficient, and damage free cargo handling (including proper breakdown and build up of Unit Load Devices).

• Measure performance according to established KPI's, with a focus on continuous improvements in efficiency and cost throughput

• Encourage staff development through recruitment, training, and quality management activities

• Regularly review processes and approach to existing business to enhance profitability by identifying opportunities for cost reductions, service enhancement, and margin improvement

• Utilize expertise to guide internal and external stakeholders and act as liaison when needed

• Complete all trainings as assigned in a timely manner

• Work closely with other gateways and stations to deliver a high level of service to our customers and maximum GP generation

• Conduct regular reviews with staff to appraise performance, productivity, and contributions to the team

• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of experience in the airfreight industry - leadership and warehouse experience strongly preferred

• Ability to work within a team and communicate with both internal and external stakeholders in a professional manner

• Ability to manage workload independently and with attention to deadlines, compliance, and customer centric focus

• Setting an example for others to follow regarding knowledge, expertise, work ethic, and reliability

• Microsoft Office Knowledge including Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint, Excel and Word
