GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
Oversee the activities of a group of warehouse employees with specific goals, responsibilities, and performance measures. Ensure that everyone is working efficiently and safely, and make sure that products are managed properly as they move through the warehouse. Communicate clearly and effectively with team members so that everyone knows what is expected of them daily.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure that all inventory is accounted for and stored properly to avoid spoilage or damage.
Conduct training sessions on proper safety procedures, technology/automation changes to ensure that employees are keeping up with policies and procedures.
Continually train staff on processes, standard work, and performance measures.
Monitor employee performance to ensure that targets are met, corrective action is taken when needed, and that employees receive recognition when they do well.
Oversee select warehouse operations including, but not limited to inventory control, shipping and receiving, late-stage assembly, and record development and retention.
Assign tasks to employees based on their specific job responsibilities within the warehouse.
Schedule work hours to meet requirements or to complete special projects as needed.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment by regularly inspecting the warehouse and equipment. Enforce Safety program.
Assist team with daily work tasks as needed.
Recommend process improvements and help to execute improvement.
Perform other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
May supervise non-supervisory employee(s).
Under the direction of the warehouse leadership, interview, hire, and train employees; plan, assign, and direct work as needed; assess performance, reward, and discipline employees; address complaints and resolve problems.
Work with management and Human Resources on employee issues.
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Skills and Abilities
Proven experience as warehouse worker, team leader, or similar role.
Effective communication, people skills, leadership, and conflict resolution.
Effective knowledge of modern warehousing practices and methods.
Initiative-taking approach to problem solving.
Able to operate warehouse equipment, including automated technology.
Bilingual skills are helpful, but not required.
Education and Experience
2+ years of combined leadership experience in Warehousing or Third-Party Logistics
Proven history of managing at least five warehouse employees.
Experience with inventory control, inventory reconciliation, and cycle counting.
Associate degree in Warehouse Management, Logistics, Business, or related field (preferred) or equivalent work experience.
