Position Description

The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for the operational function(s) for assigned work group(s) in a logistics operation. This position provides direct supervision and ensures compliance with company and location policies, procedures and work instructions in order to provide a safe and productive work environment, optimum customer service and accurate records. May interact with carriers and/or the customer based on the complexity and scope of the account. All work is subject to review by the CLM/LM/SLM and Ryder Corporate Process Owners such as Finance, Human Resources, Safety, etc. Error could result in customer dissatisfaction, loss of inventory, loss of profit, safety or security incident.

Requirements

  • H.S. diploma/GED

  • One (1) year or more experience in logistics, warehouse or industry related field required

  • Previous supervisory experience preferred

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to effectively communicate in both verbal and written forms with employees, peers, and management

  • Strong organizational, follow-up, and computer skills required

  • Ability to work self directed with minimal supervision

  • Ability to manage individual performance and employee relations

  • Ability to use sound judgement when information is incomplete or ambiguous

  • Knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) (Intermediate level, Preferred)

  • Knowledge of Material Handling Equipment (MHE) depending on position (Intermediate level)

  • Knowledge of OSHA required; DOT and Hazmat knowledge based on the account (Intermediate level)

Responsibilities

  • Lead shift start up meeting to communicate daily/shift goal of facility and work group(s). Devise, communicate, and implement plans to obtain operational goals. Work with and motivate employees to ensure goal achievement. Provide progress or constraint updates to management

  • Hire, train and supervise leads and hourly employees in the assigned work group(s)

  • Provide leadership for employees through in depth training and continuous review of employee understanding of policies, procedures, and processes. Create a productive work environment through effective communication, coaching, motivating, and leading by example

  • Support and aid in the development of system and process training for employees in the work group(s). Perform administrative functions to include tracking of time, attendance, and performance feedback

  • Instruct and enforce location safety management plans, training, and processes

  • Identify and/or solve operational issues with the account(s) by implementing continuous improvement and LEAN initiatives, to strengthen team unity, goals, productivity, and results

  • Assign employees to individual tasks and ensure required tools are available

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Danone North America is looking for a Production Supervisor--Minster in our Minster., Ohio manufacturing facility.   In this role you will be accountable for: * Managing and mobilizing a team of hourly associates to ensure Safety, Quality, and Productivity goals are met * Driving accountability through strong leadership and setting consistent expectations * Regular formal and informal evaluations and feedback of the performance of your hourly associates * Improving and maintaining communicated performance standards for their department; managing with the flexibility to react as needed when breakdowns arise * Working cross functionally with other cells within operations to ensure production schedules are met * Identifying and driving continuous improvement initiatives within the business unit * Performing root cause analysis, problem solving, and follow-up of operational and safety incidents within business unit * Demonstrating progress towards communicated objectives * Ensuring SOP's are current and utilized by all hourly associates; will also provide necessary job specific training as warranted. * Addressing grievances and concerns; elevate to next level leadership as needed * Ensuring department's compliance with company's policies, procedures, and the labor contract * Validation of time and attendance through daily and weekly reviews of your team's timecards   The ideal candidate will have: * Bachelor Degree; (BS Degree in Chemical /Mechanical/Industrial Engineer is preferred) * 3-5 years experience supervising in manufacturing/processing environment. Previous supervisory experience within a food/beverage environment is preferred. * Familiarity with HAACP/AIB/ISO * Demonstrated continuous improvement and/or lean manufacturing experience. * Quantitative analysis skills, budgetary adherence and understanding, loss analysis. * Thorough understanding of fluid dynamics (ie CIP) * Must possess excellent analytical, troubleshooting, conflict management and problem solving skills * Must possess demonstrated planning, communication and supervisory skills * Previous leadership experience in a fast paced, manufacturing environment * Shift flexibility where weekends and nights may be required * Excellent verbal and written communication skills * Resourcefulness and decision-making ability * Must have the ability to work under pressure and potentially stressful conditions * Under minimal direction, works independently toward department objectives * Must be self-motivated and a self-starter   Danone North America is a Certified B Corporation business unit of Danone and operates in the U.S. from headquarter offices in White Plains, NY and Broomfield, CO. For more information, please visit DanoneNorthAmerica.com.
