You will significantly impact the Article business by:

  • Setting expectations and providing support to the warehouse team so the distribution center runs smoothly
  • Training, coaching, and developing the warehouse associates and leads

What does a day in the life of a Warehouse Supervisor at Article look like?

What You'll Be Doing

  • Leading a team of employees including leads and associates. This includes hiring, communicating expectations, coaching and developing. You will also support with performance management and terminations as necessary.
  • Following safe work procedures and ensure team works safely at all times
  • Determining staffing levels and assigning workload
  • Identifying areas of improvement and establishing innovative or adjust existing work procedures and practices
  • Developing future leaders on the team to support our growth - you are always sharing your knowledge with the rest of the team
  • Embodying and demonstrating Article's values and principles (be better, be direct, be genuine, be good, be adventurous) in all decision-making and actions
  • Coordinating activities with other departments
  • Maintaining accurate inventory through organization and effective processes
  • Working with dispatch to coordinate and communicate outbound orders to be picked and loaded
  • Selecting proper container, methods of packing, cushioning and packing procedures
  • Preparing shipping documents for TL, LTL, and FedEx shipments
  • Maintaining good housekeeping in work areas
  • Working alongside associates to unload trucks, process returns, pick orders, and get the job done

This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week. We are looking for individuals with flexible schedules, including weekends.

Requirements

  • Proven work experience as a warehouse supervisor
  • Strong PC skills including warehouse software packages and MS/Google suite proficiency
  • A team player who is willing to pitch in and help get the job done
  • Resourceful, flexible and enjoys working in a dynamic environment
  • Proven ability to direct and coordinate operations
  • Ability to work independently and have sense of ownership
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent communication skills in English (Spanish is a plus)
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Able to input, retrieve, and analyze data
  • Physically fit to stand to get work done and able to lift up to 50lbs
  • Reliable method(s) of transportation
  • Degree in logistics, supply chain management, or business is an asset but not required
  • Willingness to relocate to support our growth is an asset

The warehouse supervisor reports to the Refining Supply Chain Manager. The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for developing warehousing strategies and coordinating warehouse activities in support of the Company's third largest refinery. This position has approximately 19 direct and indirect reports (10 employees and 9 contractors). The position supervises the warehouse and inventory movement activities and hourly workforce consisting of Warehouse Technicians and Contractors. The Warehouse Supervisor will manage routine inventories in excess of $67MM. Key Responsibilities: * Supervise Warehouse Technicians and Foremen, ensuring that the expected standards of job performance and safety are met. * Provide oversight on warehouse daily operations across three onsite facilities (2 Main and 7 ancillary Warehouses) including the management of goods receipts, goods issues, picklists, cycle counting, stock put away, logistics, catalyst, and quality control/assurance. * Provide coordination with centralized Material Management group for material master creations/updates/deletions, daily Materials Requirement Planning (MRP), cycle counting, obsolete/surplus material management, repairs/refurbishments, and running reports. * Provide oversight on local material management activities including cycle counting, obsolete/surplus material management, repairs/refurbishments, and running reports. * Provide coaching to employees; participate in performance management process/discussions and in the selection process for staffing of future open positions. * Maintain high Health, Environment, Safety & Security (HES&S) standards; lead and participate in activities supporting HES&S commitments. Ensure that employees/vendors adhere to safe practices and follow requirements in the storage and transportation of materials. Ensure team's personal safety is a priority. * Ensure compliance with Company policies, procedures, guidelines and requirements related to warehousing and inventory management. * Establish warehouse strategies and organizational goals; develop/track key performance indicators (KPI); utilize root cause analysis to improve performance. Develop short- and long-term plans to increase the efficiency and optimization of warehousing functions and inventory; engage workforce in pursuing continuous improvement efforts; strive to achieve best in class status. * Ensure cycle count goals are met and 100% complete by year end. * Monitor workloads and shift work as needed to ensure the success of the group. * Provide support to auditors (Internal Control, HES&S, etc.); develop responses to address any deficiencies. * Develop/oversee training programs for new employees. Ensure employees/contractors maintain required training and certifications. * Support internal Business Partners (Maintenance, Operations, Engineering, etc.). Collaborate and effectively communicate with them to create robust, sustainable relationships. Be proactive and understand organizational needs and plan/align material management strategies to business partner goals. * Optimize and maintain facilities (warehouses, laydown yards, chemical/catalyst storage, turnaround staging, temporary storage areas, offsite storage sites); ensure stationary and mobile equipment are maintained and replaced as necessary. * Coordinate with Maintenance in developing warehouse budget; maintain financial discipline to meet the budget. * Monitor training status of team members and ensure that they remain 100% compliant with required completion dates. * Identify and report any Supply Chain Synergies and Cost Savings (Benefits Capture) in support of departmental goals.
