Job Description

DC Supervisors at Advance Auto Parts supervise the daily work schedules of warehouse employees involved in performing a combination of: shipping, receiving, loading and unloading trucks, stacking, picking and palletizing finished products. The DC Supervisor will be knowledgeable of our company policies and procedures, including Human Recourse policies. They will demonstrate lead-workers or supervisory skills and must make decisions regarding orders and work assignments.

The DC Supervisor will be required to assist in determining space requirements for storage and schedule delivery and distribution of products, parts, and accessories to achieve distribution objectives and meet customer requirements. They will help to maintain a safe and clean environment.

DC Supervisor Job Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Supervises the daily work schedules of warehouse employees involved in performing a combination of: shipping, receiving, loading and unloading trucks, stacking, picking and palletizing finished products.

  • Determines space requirements for storage and schedules delivery and distribution of products, parts, and accessories to achieve distribution objectives and meet customer requirements and certify that all store material is organized and clearly identified.

  • Ensures maintenance of equipment, including company vehicles, in compliance with city, state, and federal laws, and ensures a safe, clean environment with the ability to enforce all company work and safety rules, including the proper handling and recording of all hazardous materials.

  • Monitors employee attendance, productivity, and other performance markers and provides counseling to employees, as required.

  • Coordinates work with warehouse and operations manager, telephone sales and other supervisors concerning shipments being shipped in accordance with designated cut-off times, merchandise shortages, etc.

  • Maintains various records and reports, such as lost sales, error report, and production report.

  • Recommends changes in procedures to improve the operating efficiency of the unit.

Required Experience:

  • 1 to 3 years prior work experience in a warehouse related field.

  • Previous work experience in a warehouse or distribution center including material handling, inventory tracking, and providing work direction to other teammates.


  • Associate Degree, or equivalent experience.

Bi-Lingual skills preferred, but not required.

VIEW JOBS 2/9/2021 12:00:00 AM 2021-05-10T00:00 DIVISION/DEPARTMENT: Logistics LOCATION: Cincinnati, OH JOB TITLE: Warehouse Supervisor REPORTS TO: Warehouse Operations Manager GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the receiving, stocking and distribution of tires and wheels for all store locations; manage the day to day activities in assigned warehouse. The goal is to ensure productivity targets are achieved, inventory accuracy is maintained, and all warehouse processes are completed in a timely and efficient manner. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: * Mentor, coach and provide direction to warehouse associates to ensure a productive and safe work environment. * Ensure safety and OSHA compliance standards for the warehouse are met. * Generate reports to measure productivity and efficiency in processes. * Schedule and coordinate daily work flow, monitoring the pace and flow of product from receiving through shipping. * Control all inventory movements from receipt through storage into warehouse inventory. * Maintain accurate inventory and product loss control records. * Track and record all related issues and challenges in order to develop a strategy to overcome any internal problems. * Plan and assign tasks appropriately and appraise results. * Identify and implement warehouse process improvements. * Ensure BWT/TDSS has product available and properly placed for positive customer experience * Schedule warehouse associates to meet the demands of the facility to include; staffing, training, evaluation and development. * Maintain warehouse staffing levels by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees. * Must be certified and skilled to train associates and drive yard truck and powered industrial equipment. Operates equipment in accordance with safety guidelines considering speed, visibility, and load size. * Assure warehouse maintains compliance with company's policies and vision. * Communicates with Warehouse Operations Manager and other departments to ensure goals are accomplished. * Acts as back-up to the Warehouse Operations Manager, when he/she is unavailable * General housekeeping to ensure warehouse standards are met in a safe and professional manner. May include sweeping, restocking, organizing, and other duties as assigned. * Receive feedback and monitor the quality of services provided. * Key Performance Indicators implementation and review * Other duties as assigned by Warehouse Operations Manager, VP / Logistics, SVP/ CFO. * Perpetuate the Tire Discounters culture KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: * Proven warehouse supervision experience * Strong organizational and time management skills * Knowledge of warehousing Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) * Expertise in warehouse supervision procedures and best practices * Leadership skills and ability to supervise associates * Strong customer service desire * Desire and ability to work as a team in a fast-paced environment with a positive "can-do" attitude * Good attendance and ability to adhere to work schedule EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE: * High School diploma or GED required * 3-5 years' warehouse/inventory experience required * Ability to use Microsoft Windows, computer and key boarding skills * Strong oral and written communication skills * Powered industrial equipment certification a plus PHYSICAL DEMANDS: * Operates in both an office setting, and within our warehouse operations. * Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers and phones. * Walking, standing, sitting, listening and talking on a wide variety and continual basis. * Required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle and/or feel; lift/carry up to 50 pounds, and reach with hands and arms.
