Our Shelbyville location is currently seeking qualified individuals to join our Warehouse Department as an entry level PIT (PIV/Forklift ) Operator. We offer outstanding opportunities for our employees to advance their careers through on-the-job training and job progression. Base pay starts at $14.91, and progresses to $16.61 after 6 months. Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Operate various powered industrial trucks (PIT).

  • Record in-process of raw material from warehouse to production and/or production to warehouse.

  • Deliver materials associated with scheduled lines running in assigned department.

  • Load and unload trailers.

  • Operate auto balers and shredders.

  • Collect, weigh, and monitor various grades of paper scrap that is generated by production.

  • Maintain high degree of housekeeping; collect and dump department trash.

  • Understand the process of starting up and shutting down the scrap take-away system.

  • Operate hand-held RF scanners, ensuring inventory accuracy; assist in inventory reconciliation.

  • Perform all duties in a safe, quality-focused and productive manner, in accordance with established requirements.

  • Perform other miscellaneous duties that may be assigned by department supervision.

  • High School diploma or GED.

  • Ability to successfully complete GPI PIT examinations and maintain certification.

  • Ability to perform all duties in a safe, efficient and orderly manner.

  • Ability to effectively interact with others.

  • Ability to speak, read and write English, and interpret written instructions.

  • Must have basic computer skills.

  • Self-motivated, and possess the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with limited supervision.

  • Ability to work a 12-hour shift; Ability to fulfill overtime requirements.

  • Valid driver's license.

  • Good depth perception

  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without accommodation. This includes lifting to 50 lbs, and pushing full carts (2-person job)

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities include:

  • Minimum of 1 years of PIT experience, strongly preferred.

Job Advancement Opportunities through our strong promotion from within program. JOB SUMMARY: Set up, adjust and operate the multi-color printing press. Duties also include: mounting and demounting printing press plates to sleeves and cylinders, adjusting ink to meet printing standards, correcting paperwork for each job and press assigned to, working in a safe manner, and obeying all safety rules. * Set up multi-color printing press to produce standard quality units of various types and sizes with proper color, coverage and registration. * Maintain continuous operation of press by performance of such duties: adjust ink flow, replenish inks, and adjust plates for proper registration. Clean plates periodically, remove jams or web breaks and report irregularities to the supervisor as they occur. * Start and stop assigned equipment. * Perform operations such as: wash plates, ink fountains and ink rollers, lubricate, PM and clean press according to schedule, mount and/or demount printing plates, clean and change doctor blades. * Splice and/or thread paper through a press. * Inspect paper roll stock for adherence to specifications and reject paper obviously defective. * Notify appropriate personnel when materials are required. * Remove rolls from rewind stand, put on proper identification flags, and band rolls. * Segregate waste into appropriate containers. * Report to the supervisor any major jams or improper product. If product is bad, cut off the paper. * Continuously check quality of product being printed. * Maintain tally of own time and production. * Keep assigned area and equipment clean and orderly. * Instruct and train other operators in correct operating and servicing of the equipment. * Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned by the Dept. Supervisor. * Perform preventive maintenance on the equipment. * Communicate with the following shift. * Perform duties in a safe and orderly manner at all times. * Fulfill overtime requirements as necessary to insure production requirements are met as well as shut-down and start-up requirements before and after the completion of the shift. * Mount printing plates by use of optical Mounter-Proofer. SCHEDULE: * 12 hour shifts, working alternately (36) and (48) hour work weeks, 7:00 P.M.-7:00 A.M. Voluntary and required overtime, as necessary. Required Skills EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED: * Must be 18 years old * High School Diploma or GED, required. * 1-2 years' experience in a manufacturing environment, preferred. * Good mechanical abilities and able to use hand tools comfortably, properly and safely * Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without accommodation, including: * Walking or standing for extended periods of time, up to 12-hours. * Frequent bending, stooping, lifting up to 30 lbs.; Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. to a height of 4 ft.
