Warehouse Material Handler

The Material Handler plays a vital role in our distribution centers' process by handling a variety of products that we deliver and ship through various carriers. Primary responsibilities for the position include receiving, product put away, accurate pulling of orders, kitting, count by scale weight, and scanning & packing.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Receiving and Inventory Control

  • Receipt of inbound freight

  • Put product away via scan gun and Epicor P21 WMS and WWMS systems

  • Process inventory adjustments

  • Perform cycle counts and inventory audits

Picking, Packing and Shipping

  • Pick orders within groups or individually

  • Complete work order for outside process

  • Complete warehouse transfers and 3PL orders

  • Operate hand-held inventory scanner

  • Operate warehouse equipment (forklifts, order pickers, and pallet jacks)

  • Count or weigh material using counting scales

  • Shipping and Receiving

  • Process customer returns

  • Provide feedback when suppliers do not follow GFC Supplier requirements (damaged goods, incorrect quantities, wrong products etc.)

  • Unload and load vehicles (small parcel, LTL, TL and hot shot couriers) including international shipping

  • Create a Bill of Lading (BOL) and other shipping documents

  • Schedule carriers

Additional Responsibilities

  • Fill bins and trays for our VMI (Vendor Managed Inventory) customers

  • Repackaging of materials into selling quantities

  • Wrap and band skids for shipment

  • Participate in Continuous Improvement events

  • Housekeeping of general work area

MOST QUALIFIED CANDIDATES WILL ALSO HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH:

  • Forklift and Order Picker certification

  • Epicor Prophet 21 ERP software and WMS system

  • Local delivery experience (non CDL)

  • Preferred: 2+ years of experience in a warehousing and/or manufacturing environment

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES REQUIRED TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS POSITION:

  • Experience with Microsoft Office: Outlook, Excel & Word

  • Possess excellent communication skills including verbal, written, and interpersonal

  • Possess a customer focused attitude and strong problem solving skills

  • Ability to organize resources and establish priorities

  • Ability to be trained to safely operate powered industrial lift trucks and pallet jack

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy while meeting deadlines

  • Interact well with employees at all levels within the organization and be able to build and maintain positive working relationships

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred

  • Must have a valid driver's license or reliable means of transportation to and from work

  • Must maintain a clean hi-lo safety/accident record

  • This job operates in a warehouse environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to inside ambient temperatures. Noise level may be high when operating powered industrial equipment. Employee is required to use appropriate safety equipment to prevent injury to self or others.

  • The employee is frequently required to bend, stretch, twist, stand, move about, hear and speak. The employee is frequently required to use hands and arms to reach, handle and feel. The employee is frequently required to climb on and off industrial powered equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

  • Lifting requirements of up to 50lbs.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

This position has no supervisory responsibility.
