Job Summary We are seeking a highly organized and experienced individual to oversee the daily warehouse operations of Richmond Supply Company’s Shipping & Receiving Deptartment. This role is a hands-on position.
The responsibilities include but are not limited to inventory management, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and coordinating timely deliveries of products to customers. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to manage a team effectively. Responsibilities Lead and supervise the Shipping and Receiving clerks, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure smooth operations.
Receive and process inbound freight, verifying accuracy and completeness of information. Coordinate with customer service, sales managers, purchasing, prioritizing and scheduling shipments to meet customer deadlines. Collaborate with team preparing orders for shipment by selecting appropriate packaging materials, order picking, packing items securely, and labeling packages correctly.
Verify and maintain accurate inventory records by conducting regular cycle counts and reconciling discrepancies. Collaborate with freight carriers to arrange pickups and deliveries, ensuring timely and cost-effective transportation. Prepare shipping documents, including bills of lading, and packing lists, to comply with DOT regulations.
Inspect outgoing shipments for accuracy, quality, and adherence to customer specifications. Resolve shipping and receiving-related issues or discrepancies by collaborating with other departments, such as, Purchasing, and Customer Service. Maintain a clean and organized shipping and raw material areas, ensuring proper storage and handling of products.
Assist with general warehouse duties, such as receiving, stocking, and inventory management, as needed. Provide regular reports on shipping and receiving activities, including productivity, accuracy, and any issues or delays. Other duties as assigned by director of operations.
Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in logistics or supply chain management is a plus. Proven experience as a Fulfillment Clerk, Receiving Clerk or similar role, with at least 2 years of experience in a lead or supervisory capacity. Strong knowledge of shipping and receiving procedures, including familiarity with various packaging materials and techniques.
Proficient computer skills, including experience with inventory management software. Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to accurately process and record information. Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines. Knowledge of Hazmat shipping regulations and documentation is preferred. Ability to lift and move heavy objects, as required (up to 50 lbs). Ability to climb up and down ladders, in and out of forklifts, reach with hands and arms above shoulder height and below waist, stand and walk on level surfaces for a prolonged period.
Forklift certification or experience operating material handling equipment is a plus.
